Very different players.
Tupou has decent size and power, but not much speed and is not a great leaper under the high ball despite his height.
Kris is just on six foot tall, so not overly tall for a modern day winger, but he is a lot quicker than Tupou and is generally a good leaper and good under the high ball.
Not forgetting Kris has played most of his NRL games as a centre, so would keep the pressure on Averillo and be a valuable NRL experienced back up if either centres are injured.
Not forgetting Averillo has always been a bit inconsistent throughout his career, so if he is our starting right centre we need serious competition for his position to keep him honest and If someone like Kris was playing too well to leave out of the centres, Averillo could play on the wing.
As much as Herbert rips in and does his best, he is far too slow to be a good to high quality NRL centre against top class opposition. He is ok if he is our 4th or 5th choice centre, but we will again struggle scoring points if we have to rely on him as one of our centres too often in 2027.
He also gets cought out defensively for speed against top quality opposing centres.
Herbert always plays tough and could be an option to play a bit of back row next season.

Unless a quality young 7 becomes avalable (Katoa, Sanders etc.), I would leave the halves as is.

I'd be focused on experienced defensive second rowers for depth (OK with Frizell for a year) and young backs that have serious speed (at least as fast as Averillo). The Titans just signed the fastest player in QLD Cup, those are the kind of signings worth a shot.

I was interested, cos I thought the 400k was wild.

They had a government enquiry on Kerry Packer because he was paying bugger all tax.
Even a kid making 10k a year at maccas claims a few hundred dollars in laundry, blokes making a million a year would be negative geared to the hilt, and lucky to have a taxable income of a couple hundred k a year.

Funny all those media footballers now (like Anasta) claiming the tax free income doubles the salary almost…
Like he’s not been super well set up his whole career to minimise and avoid tax!!

Nobodies low 6 figures reduce taxable income around the 50% mark.

I stand by what I said, anyone who’s paying that much tax is getting poorly advised, or outright robbed.

From personal experience, coming from nothing, it’s very hard and since the latest budget, even harder to build wealth without the government taking half of it. You can reinvest and leverage to reduce your tax but that carries lots of risk. We even have to pay next quarters tax before we’ve even earned it. It severely hampers cashflow.

It’s much easier if you’re wealthy to begin with.

The franking credits you receive are used to reduce tax owing, I know this for a fact, I own enough bank shares that my last tax lodgement because of the franking credits I received a tax return.

If I didn't own any shares I would be paying them, ouch, don't you hate that.

AD to finally move to lock or backrow , schuster as well to hit the gym and provide lock depth/ half / backrow.
That’s enough talent in the room and experience to get the job done .
With frizell coming in as another middle , same with Mann , you can run backrow depth of Fainu, KPP, Sukkar and Roberts , with Godinet waiting in the wings with the Tautua brothers .
Middles of Mann , Frizell,May, hunt , Fainu ,Pole , Aho , Seyfarth twal , Duncombe, JTM, there’s heaps of depth there .

They need to sit down and have a discussion with Kerry Packer's old accountant, especially if they're not happy with how Albo and Chalmers are spending your tax dollar.

I wouldn't get carried away with Black after 1 good game, remember Brooks had a good debut game too.

Black coming here is about 500/1, wake up from you're dream state unless you're talking fantasy football.

That was a very different game one mate. You could see the way he talked, barked orders and took complete control, he is an NRL player. Obviously he wont play that well every week, but he is a genuine NRL half after just one game. He was phenomenal. Very different debut to Brooks.

Do you guys realise that all season black has been playing nsw cup in a side about equal with our reserve grade side but our 19 year old half has double the line breaks , try assists and line Break assists of ever other half in the comp including black? Black is a class act, but so is his halves partner from 19s origin last year, our own Javon Andrews..Javon has all the attacking qualities needed to be a superstar half,, he does need work on his tackling technique but remember he had a career threatening spinal injury 2 years ago and seems just a little tentative to ‘ dive “ into a tackle.. but deadset he is as good as any young half around.. if he played. Flegg today we win by 20 imo

Well said TigerNeddyK and agree fully!! Maybe when Javon debuted his coach should have had him playing on the left where he normally plays, but not our coach

Nice reality check post for us mate. Got me a little excited if im being honest. Seriously, next year could be anything, we could get the spoon, or we could be top 4 depending on how good our 2 young halves are. You just never know, they may combine, thrive and deliver together.

Mate you keep saying this, but any chance Latu has played halves in KOE cup he outshines Javon easily. So if you compare performances in the same comp and in the same position, Latu kills Javon. Yet because Latu has been stuffed around in first grade playing out of position and had injury issues, he is judged on the same level playing field as Javon. Its completely unfair comparison. Not trying to offensive, I just dont see how anyone can say they think Javon is better because there is simply very small sample size to compare, and that small sample says Latu is better. This is no knock on Javon, he may end up way better, he certainly has enormous talent, but Latu has earned first crack. Although hopefully they both get the chance next year.

My opinion is Andrews is and will be the superior halves player

no problem in having a different opinion

if latu plays well next year then great I was wrong and hopefully we make the semis
i just dont think he has the resilience to get through even 16 games of nrl in a row

unfortunately as latu is tied to sam who is a gun potentially Andrews ups and leaves at next contract who knows.

At present I have not seen much from latu fainu in first grade I would take coby Black ahead of latu as a 7 100% and run with Andrews or even AD (if we still had him) as the 6.
