Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

AD is not a first receiver. Forget his selfish play style (and personality) and unwillingness to defend. There is nuance in ball playing at first receiver, it is not simply shovelling onto someone wider of the ruck. AD has shown in his time as a halfback he doesn't have the nuance to be an effective ball player at lock.
This isn't me hating on the bloke. Sure, I don't want him at the club and haven't liked him for years but he can be a very effective 6 or centre with the right play style.
He is a power runner. I could see him be an effective running forward at lock but not a ball playing lock.
I agree with you but Doueihi ball plays better than Twal/Seyfarth who are there at the moment. Problem is what you gain in attack does not make up for what you lose defensively with those guys who are maximum effort and do a lot of clean up work.

Doueihi's place, if he is still here next year, is on the bench as cover across the halves, centre and lock. I seriously doubt his ego with allow him to fit that utility role however.

If your could strip him back and say "run hard, tackle hard, thats all you do" he could be a huge asset. But the guy os obsessed with being a ball player.
A ball player that doesn't pass the ball, that'll do me.

I see Seyfarth playing in the lock role and his passing and ball distribution is Isaah Yeo like when you compare it to what Doueihi produces in the ball playing department.

Yeah, laugh if you like but given the opportunity, Seyfarth hasn't got too bad a pass in his game.

Ready for incoming. 🤣

Thought Seyfarth played 13 surprisingly well
My player of the year. Him and Twal stepped up a gear this year, then when Twal got injured and suspended Seyfarth stepped up another gear, still gives a penalty or two away but if you watch the guy its bound to happen hes everywhere in the frontline. He has killed it this year, we need to keep him.

Our current forward pack is far too slow and we have nobody aside from Api who can beat our opponents for pace in the middle or on the edges.
It’s all good to have Samuela who can at times over power his opponents and once KPP is back it will certainly help, but you need variety in way of a certain element of speed in your forward pack and that simply does not happen when we only ever play props doing their best at 13.
We can have props at 13 to start the game, but when it happens for any longer than 40mins each game, it is contributing to a slow boring attack which is more often than not, very easy for our opponents to deal with.
If we add more speed out wide and more speed in the middle, we instantly become much harder to defend against.
I know it sounds obvious, but for sone reason our playing roster and team selections rarely allow this to happen.
I have always been in Seyfarth’s corner, so happy to see him now get more opportunities at 13 and I agree his link play continues to improve, but he simply does not have enough speed or skill to worry our opponents for pace or deception, therefore we need someone who has these qualities for at least 40mins each game at 13 if we expect to take the required steps forward as an attacking team.
Watch out halves prosper if/when this happens.

My observation {without a replay] was Tupou is so slow and not willing to chase if there is a break.
Just gives up because of his lack of speed.
We need speed on the wings to chase down breaks from wherever they are from on the field?
Not just battering rams to gain 5m. out of our own red zone.
A 2m gain is fine if they came stop a try because of their speed and desire to cover breaks.

Agree...
Problem is, He's probably faster than Turuva.

At least he's 6ft and makes metres out of yardage.

I agree the question is whether Doueihi is suited to that role. A lot of the best teams have the smaller, more dynamic type in the position. Murray, Cotter, Watson types. Doueihi doesn't exactly fit that mould. Kinda wish we persisted with Kit Lauli'li there... Yet another we have done a disservice.

It’s great having big bodied battering rams who are a big help getting yardage out of our own end, but players with a bit of speed can also do this and be more of a line break threat because of their sheer speed. The inclusion of Averillo will at least give us an option for an early shift when the opposing team compresses their defence and hopefully he can at times link up with Bula to beat our opponents with speed on the back of an early shift.
