Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Not sure what money we have left in our cap but Willison would be a great option for us.
Sam F i think will likely stay with us especially considering that there are some better SRFs available like Preston, Young and Martin.
As for backs I read that Schiller is available. He could be OK. Certainly big and reasonably quick and can find the line. Penisini from the Eels possibly?

Not filled with confidence for 2027
2025 finish 13th
2026 finish 15th
To me that's backwards
Our only new recruits
Jake Averillo doesn't even get in the Dolphins 1- 19 for this weekend
Blake Brailey not even in Raiders side last round
Only hope is Benji last presser finally acknowledged Tigers had good
1-18 to start this year but a poor 19-30 in other words NO DEPTH
Hope they do something about it !

What do you folks think about Munster coming here as a #7 for 2 years on big coin?

Whilst he is a #6, he easily play the #7 role for us with Latu at #6.

Andrews is only 19 and now injured, so another 2 years in cup behind Munster could only help his development.

Given his relationship with Braith, id find it hard to see him coming here (Braith knows we are a basketcase)... so it would only be $$$ that would get him here

A hard no for me. Munster is so overrated and is declining quickly

Personally think Munsters best is behind him..and so does Bellamy which is why he was lowballed by Storm
I dont think bellamy had a say, he is on the way out. The club has just been acquired. Probably alot of change happening down there. Wouldn't be suprised to see them fall off a cliff the next few years. If it werent for bellamy that club would be a massive failure.

I’m not as big a fan of Munster as everyone seems to be. He was good in his early years, but lately he just seems to run around the field like a headless chook. We just got rid of the headless chook we had for 2 years, so don’t need another one.

The players that we would like to see the club target are also targeted by other clubs and leaves us with few other options. Can 💯 guarantee that the players Benji would really like to lure have options elsewhere and when it comes to selling this club to any player with ambition we don't have much to back it up.
That’s the sad tale of it. Somehow even the Eels seem to be a more attractive destination! Must be Jarome’s influence 🤣

The Eels never seem to have trouble recruiting even though their results can go from decent to the cellar very quickly. They do however have a great facility to play from strong supporter base huge leagues club and a presence in their community..

Willison is for 2028

Wighton & Walker probably moved on by then, that's some money right there.
They have Cameron Murray and Latrell Mitchell both on 1.1 million and I very much doubt either of them will take anything less anytime soon.
Payne Hass on 1.2 million which I assume might have a ratchet clause.
Tallis Duncan will be getting plenty of offers of 900k, maybe higher, so you would think they will need to pay very close to 900k to retain him.
David Fifita is on a 800k deal and I don’t think he would be too keen to accept anything less.
Brandon Smith is on a 600k deal and I don’t think he will accept anything less.
Campbell Graham is currently on an 800k deal and i don’t think Souths will want to lose him, so they will have to pay somewhere around that figure to retain him.
Jack Wighton currently on a deal around 900k and I think they woukd ideally want to keep him as well. They might be able to retain him for a couple of hundred thousand less per season due to his age.
Jye Gray currently on a deal of around 700k and they don’t consider him as a starting player, so they will likely try and offload him, but I don’t think they will get any takers for that price.

So they will likely be paying over 7 million for their 7 highest paid players in 2028 and that’s the best case scenario if some of those players are accepting less than they could get elsewhere.
That is not including a halfback, 5/8 and possibly another fullback, no decent players in those positions come cheap.
So no idea how they could possibly be in the market for another marquee player in Xavier Willison who will definately be commanding 1 million per season or more from 2028 onwards.
