Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

With all due respect I could go on a podcast and say I know a guy who doesn’t say much but he said we have signed a half for next year and we are gonna be happy.
Unless a halfback is asking for a release out there then any halfback who is off contract in 2027 is kinda poo!
Haha yeah I recall hearing that and rolling my eyes.

It always boggles my mind. People excuse the discrepancies by saying oh the Roosters are just so good at managing their cap compared to most other teams blah blah. And maybe they are to an extent, but honestly it just doesn’t add up.

You can’t tell me most of the ‘superstars’ in that team are playing for the love of the jersey only. The money is coming from somewhere and yet they can ALWAYS afford to fit in more top line players. Whereas us and some other clubs with lesser rosters are in danger of breaking the cap when we sign a couple of fringe first graders!
Roosters find a way because they are an astute club with quality business connections. This means 3rd party contracsts and life after football..

We have HBG. What is their business network like? I honestly dont know. But if the way they do business is any indicator, their business relationships are probably dog shit.

Herbie could go to the roosters for less money, but because the business relationships are fans of the club, he'd walk into a job the moment he stops playing football. What does this club offer?

Really? Seems there’s more in it for them to just hold it for ransom
Like what?
There's nothing in it for them to keep the ownership.
They get the ability to argue about colours of jerseys I guess.
It costs them a couple of million a year and they get no return on that investment.
If they could make a profit of 100 million for the sale of something that costs them money to run then for their business plan of targeting degenerate gambling addicts and sending their families broke they'd be in an even stronger position to do so

I'm not surprised, it's well known in the community about his extra-curricular activities.

So, no thanks.
Yeah, kick the laughing JAC ass to the curb, should get a lifetime ban.

How many chances do you want and how many more dumb things can you do you goose.

On the pod one of the guys made mention someone who gives him decent mail told him we have already signed a half for next year. Said he wasnt told who but that Tigers supporters would be really happy. Walker for a year or two would have been great. In typical fashion though his career on the pitch might be over after his acl injury.
In which case we probably have signed him.

At one of the 17 others clubs next season....yeah sure
We have tried him at every position bar wing know the back line over many years and his defence sucks
He has openly defied the coach .....allegedly defied another coach for the exact same reason
His attack revolves around 20 carries a game where he runs across field and cramps the backline ....or cuts back inside when he should be spreading the ball
Cut him loose .....for everyone's sake

Yeah, I was just asking the question about where he could play 13 in defence.

I see clearly you don't think he should be afforded any 'leway' even when considering he was our best player before he was injured? And arguably one of the competitions best players?

Or are you judging him on the games after he came back from injury when the team was rat sh*t?

Who is going to replace him? Doueihi remains one of our best attacking options with Bula. These are the two players in our team with the pace to go the length of the field. Think back to our first game against the Warriors in Auckland where he sliced through the defence with his pace and size to set up two tries. With Averillo joining the club we want to augment the little pace we have in the backline, not reduce it. If Marshall has resolved the issue with Doueihi, I fail to see how supporters cannot as well.

Brother remember when you were raving about drinkwater being 100x the player bula is... did you see him single handedly steer the cowboys out of the semi finals? For all his attacking prowess, he is a MASSIVE liability.
One poor game doesn’t make someone a bad player.
Our team lacks x-factor and until we fix that major problem, we will become a genuine contender no matter how solid our team is.
Bula showed some good signs in our last couple of games, but whether he will ever have the required x-factor is a big mark.
What about when I was suggesting Herbie Farnworth as our million dollar player a couple of years back instead of focusing on Bula as our marquee player,
Was you one of the many who tried to argue that spending 1 million on Bula instead of head hunting a player like Farnworth who was earning nowhere near 1 million per season for the Broncos back then.
