Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Dearden is a hard one for me. Terrific player yes, but he would cost us well over a million a year. I see him as a very limited ball player. He is all heart and effort, but doesnt have that soft touch of the truly elite 7's. I still dont know what he is, is he a 7, 6 or even possibly a 13.

Dont get me wrong, I'd take him. He walks into our 7 and co captains with Api, but at what price?
I think he’s a thurston type - can play 6 or quassy 7 but is an on ball running half, 110% effort 110% of the time.
the number don’t matter so much with those guys, think he’d go best with a good skipper - Reynolds and the like, was pretty good beside a dud like Townsend a few years back to be fair…
Reckon he’d be best suited as a deputy

I agree he is not a natural ball playing halfback, but what I think what he brings in ultra competitiveness and leadership overcomes his shortfalls.
We already have 2 highly skilled halves in Latu and Javon Andrews, but will they have the right level of competitiveness and leadership between them is the million dollar question?

Dearden is on 1.4 million this year
Next year he's on 1.5 million
In 2028 if the cap goes up to 18 million he's on 2.25 million he has the best contract in the NRL and in 28 it's goes up to 20 million cap he's on 2.5 million

Great management

Jesus i thought we paid overs. Thats ridiculous. He Luke Brooks 2.

Shithouse. Luke Brooks is still the worst player i have seen in my life.

If memory serves me right. Payton coached brooks lower grade with us when they won the comp.
Na,
That was the crop before Brooks (Nof, Marika, Miller, Jesse etc.) that won the comp.

Brooks played a tiny bit of 20's, But it wasn't much I don't think (He was Injured, Finishing School etc.)
He debuted at NRL 18 (Ball age) and then went to Firsts or Ressies.
Pretty much missed 20's all together.

What Iam supposed say the kid played well , there’s a few 19 year old players in other sides who are killing it , as I said I hope Iam wrong
You think it's easy for an 18 yay old who's not ready to be played out of position in first grade, especially when he's being very poorly coached?

The kid had no chance, thrown to the wolves this season. As is the WT way.... No development necessary, just throw them all in and see if they can survive.

Benji is a terrible, terrible coach

players with his level of talent learn very quickly.

you only have to look at Casey McLean at Penrith and his turnaround there. labelled a defensive liability, too young and far too green up until about 12 months ago when he magically turned a corner.

don’t be surprised if Heamasi does something similar.
McLean is well coached though
