Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I have the feeling the club is hoping like hell we get a couple of top notch players out of the kids coming through over the next few years and Friz Mann and Brailey are seen as fill and role models.

Very risky business expecting young kids to flourish in a club on struggle street but Iam not sure they have any choice. Till they are a regular finals team they will always struggle to attract the better players who are in the market place.

The only way we’re going to improve. With the new teams coming in the only way we’ll get elite players is to build them.

How would we really know if we are not also trying to sign Peter O’Sullivan?
I am as critical about our recruitment and retention as any of our supporters are, but we are not privy to who we are trying to sign and/or retain and how much we are offering.
Our fan base was not so long ago hugely critical that so much of this information was leaked, now we hear barely nothing and we just assume nothing is being done?
There would be no other recruitment manager who wants success for Wests Tigers more than what Shannon Gallant does, so it is far from certain even someone like. Peter O’Sullivan would have the care factor to do as good or a better job than what Shannon Gallant is doing.
We have signed Kurt Mann for the 2027 season and it seems like we will soon announce Tyson Frizell as a one year signing for 2027 also.
I can’t say I am overly excited about either signing as I think both are way past their best, but if it is filling in some gaps with bigger plans in place for 2028, that would then be a plan that would make plenty of sense.
All our retention and recruitment over the next couple of months for both 2027 and 2028 will be very interesting and will tell us a lot more about whether our current recruitment and retention team are doing a good job or not.
As you are so fond of doing...imo we can safely assume we were not interested in O'Sullivan given only Broncos and Parra have been mentioned in this story.
The man himself is the common denominator so we can safely assume the story is coming from his camp.
PO'S has the runs on the board putting succesful squads together everywhere so we can safely assume he would 'care enough'.
Success doesnt come to those who dont care...but im happy to hear MM cares a lot

Yeah im counting Tyson and a reasonable addition to help. He would be in my 17. If we signed him that would make 13 forwards in the squad of 30, possibly 14 if Doueihi plays lock leaving 16 for outside backs and halves.

My point is more about those saying we needs forwards due to our current pack not being good enough. I disagree with that. Our top pack has proven they can belt other teams.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately depending on how they develop, we have to work with Sukkar, Roberts, Broaderlow and Godinet as our depth on the edges along with Tyson. That isnt too bad in my eyes considering the improvement I expect from Sukkar and Roberts.

IMO we desperately need a winger.
I think Makasini will have this offseason focused on wing only and I think he's got the potential to be a really good winger. Then you have Turuva who'll be fit again. Tavana will get better with another offseason and Junior Tupou and Solo Sakaura as depth. I think we're ok on the wing

Based on this logic then the whole club should just be run by ex players who "care more".

If a coach, director of football and CEO, between themselves, cannot identify positions of deficiency and other FG players that can fill those voids, then goodluck

The Knight's signings were not rocket science - Sandon Smith and Trey Mooney were good signings. Dyl Brown is yet to prove himself as a 10-year deal kind of player

I am certainly a fan of you g Logan. But this is what professional clubs do. Don't just have one promising talent, have multiple players across grades and let the best player rise to the top. Logan, Attard and now Bryenton who's the most explosive player we've signed since Benji.

The kid had a massive fall out with the Dogs. The homesickness thing was just a cover, the broken promises disillusioned him. He felt duped by his manager into signing quickly with the dogs and the dogs failed on their promises for him.

A bit of ego to the kid. But to be told we see you as our future first grade fullback and have a pathway set out to them immediately say we're going to play you out of position was a real slap in the face. Reeca Walsh is a fair shout.

I do wonder whether we've offered him an NRL or development contract but it does seem confirmed that he's joining us. If he trains hard and works on his game I could see him replacing Bula by the end of next season. Bula belongs in the wing. It's where he started and where he belongs. Could be an Alex Johnson type player one day.

That's one expensive winger. I don't think Bula has the explosiveness of a winger now days

They are 2/6 without him and 16-6 with him this year

I would say he is pretty impactful - duno if he is worth Cleary money though
Apart from the last 20 oir so minutes when they were down to 12, he did play very well in the first 2 SOO games when QLD were handing NSW their asses on a plate.

It’s not just first grade he transformed their pathways for long term success

His talent ID is also one of the best ie McEwen & Manuelela when he was 14 years old
