No mention of why every other NRL club half a dozen or more and we don’t.Fancy way of justifying our lack of scouts
Maybe because they’ve ALL played finals in the last decade, in most grades.
But no, no - it’s not us, it’s them…

Hmm, concerning, if he signs maybe he can train with Tupou and get some tips off him.Schiller also has horrid hands at times, usually when the games on the line.
I’d sat the video footage is the starting point to determine if there is interest.Let me think about this 🤔
A management company sends the club a highlights video of a young kid that they just got to sign a contract giving there company a percentage of the kids earnings for his/her career.
The video shows all of their highlights against what type of opponent (who cares)
The kid looks good.
Just double checking that on the video there are no missed tackles, dropped balls etc.
I can see how that’s better than getting a person to go out and observe with their eyes if a kid has in their opinion what is required to be a chance to make the top grade.
I am of the older generation so maybe it just me living in the past 🤷♂️
I've always said and thought it's what you DONT see in a video that is important to making a recruitment decisionLet me think about this 🤔

Lets see Schiller bring the ball out of our end. People also saying Schiller can cover multiple positions, really? In what grade? Jeral is no superstar but he is far superior to Schiller. Terrible decisionMust admit I haven’t seen much of Schiller, have no idea of his defensive abilities, but he has some pace and that's something Skelton doesn't have.
Who knows, the change of scenery and new defensive coach could improve any issues.
Schiller has played much more centre than he has wing.Lets see Schiller bring the ball out of our end. People also saying Schiller can cover multiple positions, really? In what grade? Jeral is no superstar but he is far superior to Schiller. Terrible decision

Skelton was purely a winger only.
Schiller is a much better attacking right centre than what Herbert is if we have Averillo onion playing another position.
Skelton was a big body who was generally good with his yardage carries and a good finisher when given opportunities in our red zone, but didn’t have much pace, was very limited with his aerial leap, so not really at attacking option with the high ball.
Schiller is tall, fast and athletic, hisssheer speed would be another player who can score and sssist in scoring long range tries and is tall and athleticism would be a ge one target and option to chase high balls and be a ge one chance of leaping over his opponents to create try scoring opportunities or score tries.
Newcastle and the Dolphins were not better than us in the forwards, but both made the last 4 based on their genuine speed and attacking weapons.
If we have learnt anything, surely it is to ensure we include some players with genuine speed and attacking x-factor to at least be capable of worrying our opponents and being able to make long range line breaks and score long range tries.
At or close to their best I would definitely have Terrell May, Fonua Pole and Alex Twal in that 6 man middle forward rotation and Sione Fainu would probably be included also.I agree with much of your post, but the Knights forwards a lot stronger than ours.
FRF - Saifiti / Mooney / Hopgood / Saul
2RF - Lucas / Manuela / McEwan / Can't
Lock - Croker / Frizzel
Not sure any of our forwards start in that pack.
That's the forum for ya, opinions vary, I will hold back judgement till he plays for us if he signs.Lets see Schiller bring the ball out of our end. I would have Jeral stay and get Schiller down from Newcastle just need some players there is always injuries and sometimes seems more at the Tiger's plus someone has to play in Reggie'sLets see Schiller bring the ball out of our end. Never come across a poster here that goes to so Much effort to talk out his arse.Schiller has played much more centre than he has wing.
Spoke about the forwards .....not one mention about defensive capabilitiesAt or close to their best I would definitely have Terrell May, Fonua Pole and Alex Twal in that 6 man middle forward rotation and Sione Fainu would probably be included also.
Jacob Saifiti and Trey Mooney would both have to be included and then it’s a flip of the coin between MatcCrokercand Sione Fainu. I think Sione is a better player, but Mat Croker has developed a nice passing game when used as the 1st receiver style of 13. It’s very debatable if Mat Croker is a better 13 than Alex Seyfarth, to be honest I think Seyfarth has a bit more steel about his game.
The edge back rowers are very even as the Knights trio of McEwan, Manuleilua and Lucas all have good explosive speed, but our 2 in Samuela Fainu and KPP at their best probably have a slightly better all round game.
The Knights are far superior to us at fullback, in the centres and on the wings.
We can’t do much about closing the gap at fullback except hope that Bula steps up his game in 2027.
The inclusion of Averillo, hoping that Makasini starts living up to his potential on the wing, hoping Turuva has a much more productive season in 2027 and hoping Taylan May can stay relatively injury free in 2028 would hopefully see us close the gap with the big difference in the backline, but it’s equally as important to have good quality depth to add competition for NRL positions and be good cover when we have injuries.
Personally I think we need 2 good quality outside backs to ensure this happens, but 1 would be better than none.
I'd argue a couple points here.Let me think about this 🤔

The Fatty story was he scored an amazing 80 metre try from the scrum base for Weets v Valleys in a knockout semi tinal ( which I was at ) the goalkicker misses the conversion from in front and Wests loses by a pointI'd argue a couple points here.
1) Surely if you can assess the quality of the opponents watching live, you can also assess the quality of the opponents by watching the video.
2) clubs getting sent video is nothing new. I recall reading Fatty's book many years ago about how he ended up at Manly, it was after his manager sent them a tape (there was a bit more to the yarn to it but that is what it came down to). That was in 1978 so being of an older generation shouldn't change anything.
I'm not saying boots on the ground don't matter but most recruiting is done in a tape room and has been this way for a long time.
Yeah but he didn't attach the video to the start he fast forward the tape to that tryThe Fatty story was he scored an amazing 80 metre try from the scrum base for Weets v Valleys in a knockout semi tinal ( which I was at ) the goalkicker misses the conversion from in front and Wests loses by a point
When Arthurson was given the info about Fatty it was he was a defensive machine
So his manager attached Fattys try to the start of the video ....Arko says this kid can make 40 tackles a week as well .....Fatty to Manly
Yeah ....sorry your right about thatYeah but he didn't attach the video to the start he fast forward the tape to that try
Check your facts.Never come across a poster here that goes to so Much effort to talk out his arse.
It’s like you think you’re the only bloke here with a TV or the internet to check this shit your write.
Where you getting your stats Vicious?
Schiller has barely played a game at centre in top flight.
Even in ressies this year he didn’t play one game at centre..
You don’t get it, no defence will be good enough without speed and attacking ability that can stretch and worry the opposing defence.Spoke about the forwards .....not one mention about defensive capabilities
Spoke about centres .....not one mention about defensive capabilities
You just don't get rugby league ....do you
You can't win premierships without great defenceYou don’t get it, no defence will be good w ough without speed and attacking ability tgat can stretch and worry the opposing defence.
It’s no longer the 1930’scwheteca team full of grinders can consistently win games.
The best form of defence is attack, in case you haven’t noticed that’s the style of play that is getting decent results as proven in the 2026 season by both the Knights and Dolphins.
Check your facts.
I am talking about his whole career, not just one injury riddled season.
What are you arguing about, are you happy with Patrick Herbert and Tino Tavana as our first players called up for our right sided outside backs?
Surely you want someone better who has the physical attributes to threaten and worry decent to good opposition at NRL level?
