Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don't care who announces we sign someone…as long as we bloody sign someone...

Newtown announced our signing of Matty McIlwrick...that's going OK so far...

So its ok that for example, the Wests Tigers sign Widdop and the Dragons then announce his signing, taking away the Wests Tigers opportunity to announce what would be quite a big signing for the club?

If people on here upset you because of their dislike for the Broncos go and support them.
They have always had an unfair advantage being the only team in a city the size of Brisbane.
All those premierships they won were tainted by dirty money from mining magnate Ken Talbot and his cash payments to all the Broncos players and their cry baby coach.

Why do you think you have the right to tell me who to support? I couldn't care less about the Broncos and agree they get an unfair advantage. But that is not what we are talking about?

No but our sponsors might care.

Most clubs dont want to promote bad news (player departure)
Its legit to do it though according to the article

Is not like clubs have press conferences and wheel the player out. It's just a media release and a statement on the website.
I just had a look at our ststement about McQueen and the only sponsor I saw was AAMI on his origin jersey.

Clubs often have press conferences for big name players.

Clubs don't have full presentations for these mid-season signings unless the player is coming over straight away.
e.g. we won't have any quotes or pics with McQueen until this season is over.

All in the off season. You won't see jack bird in broncos colours until his sharks commitments are finished.
The broncs havn't lost any opportunity for promoting any sponsor.

Of course they have, they have lost website traffic, who will know go to the Bronco's page to read the story now? Anyway, this really is a tiny issue that I didn't want to derail this thread, so I will leave there.

Tiny issue indeed. That was the point,

7 News tweeting Matulino has been in Sydney holding talks with us. Didn't say when, but I'd assume in the last day or two.

@7Sport

There's been a lot of talk about the Wests Tigers, and who will be renewing their contract with the club.
Triple M and Fox Sports' James Hooper told Triple M Saturday NRL that the club has also shifted its focus externally, with a Warriors player in their sights. Listen to the full report below.

"They're also chasing a big name player, and that is Ben Matulino who is currently at the New Zealand Warriors," Hoops said. "He's injured at the moment, but he has played test football for New Zealand and is considered one of the most skilful front-rowers in the game. "They signed Chris McQueen last week, and now they're after Ben Matulino".

I would never intend to provide false hope for Forum members, so I must explain the following;

After reading GNR4LIFE's post re 7 News twitter that Matulino has been in Sydney holding talks with Wests Tigers, I made an internet search to see if there was any other news to support the 7 News twitter. The result was that I found the report from @7Sport which I then posted on the Forum. Unfortunately, due to the fact that I was in a rush to post the report I did not realise that the @7sport report was issued some days ago. My apologies for this. The developments however seem promising and I certainly hope Wests Tigers sign Matulino regardless as to whether or not Woods stays with the club.

These are players I would target:

Jorge Tafua, Alex Johnston, David Mead, Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Kurt Capwell, Zane Tetevano, Frant Winterstein, Viliame Kikau, Agnatius Paasi, Leivaha Pulu, Cooper Cronk, Gareth Widdop, Shaun Johnson, Jack Bird, Keiran Foran, **_Matt Frawley,_** Gideon Gela-Mosby, JordanKahu, Kirisome Auva'au, James Roberts, Taane Milne, Will Chambers

looking more and more like hasler sees matt frawley as the future in the halves at belmore. Which is why i say we go all out for him. Might make the bulldogs think twice before attemting to raid our ranks again. Poach our gun fullback, we will take your future half/five-eighth. Ontop of that i rate frawley and think his style fits well alongside brooks.

Aside from him, i really like jordan kahu's versatility in the backs

Absolutely.

I don't like the guy, but I'd have Fergo in a heartbeat.

Funny, I just read a comment from a Roosters' supporter wanting Fergo to be replaced by Taane Miline.

I'd have him in our team purely because he usually destroys us no matter who he plays for - kind of like Kristian Inu used to be like - but seriously when motivated he's got great tackle busting and hole finding skills.

We'd need to have an ambulance stationed at his his end of the field permanently, as he's only one tackle away from an injury at any time.

We had Kahu once, He then said he was Homesick before he got here so we let him out of the contract. Dont think he would come to us.

Anybody thinking of Zane tetevano should think again. that bloke isolated and beat his misses dont want that kind of trash in the club

I'd be looking at Alex Johnstone as a replacement for Tedesco.

He scored a good try the other night but he has been rubbish at fullback for the most part. He really doesn't offer much other than speed in open space.

Teddy will be hard to immediately replace. David Mead would be a relatively cheap option that would do a decent job, or Dylan Edwards from the Panthers.
