I wouldn't mind picking up Hoffman for a year or two. He can still go.

Hoffman would be a great buy (presuming you mean Ryan, not Josh?). He's another rep player who would bring plenty of experience, leadership and cool-headedness to our young team.
@ said:I am amazed that there has been so little comment on Matulino, even on the Warriors forum.
He had been mentioned here and there with the odd comment over the last couple of weeks but nothing definitative.
Now we hear on MMM that he has been in Sydney for talks with Cleary.
Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of talking hadnt already taken place and he was here to put pen to paper.
As one of the most skilful and aggressive props in the comp he would be a great addition to the team, either with or replacing Woods.
Would love to see his Warriors team mate Vete join him here.
Hopefully we will hear shortly.
@ said:Is it crazy to suggest Jackson Hastings to partner Brooks?
@ said:@ said:I'd be looking at Alex Johnstone as a replacement for Tedesco.
Alex Johnston is a big no for me. He's a capable backup fullback, but not someone I would have there long term. He's a decent player, but the plaudits he gets are excessive to his ability in my opinion.

Obviously hes the most lethal player in our team and most of our best performances are on the back of him doing something freakish, but he rarely plays to structure. His try in round one against the rabbits is a typical tedesco try, nothing on but he manages to awkwardly tip toe through. I think if he leaves we almost need an entire restructure of the team.
Michael gordon, although not as good a player, would provide more stability in the spine and would allow us to build more of a game plan. I think if we were to target gagai it has to be centre, jamal hasnt scored any tries, hes got 1 assist, and no linebreaks or assists, the tigers play best when they attack and gagai would fit in there.
As a kiwi i have a bias towards johnson, i think he gets a pretty bum wrap, hes carried the warriors since maloney left and everytime they win its bexause of him. My only concern is we have close to the softest forward pack running around, moses and brooks always top the league for missed tackles and id be concerned that hed get targetted as much. You get frizell or paulo running at you all day youll be stuffed on attack.
Widdops a no brainer, the longer we take to sign him the higher his price tag gets.
I didnt realise gela mosby was off contract but he fits in to the tigers style 100%.
Josh reynolds wouldnt change anything at the tigers, he will do a couple big plays every few weeks and get penalised as much as the rest of the team.
I doubt well get foran or cronk so widdop will be the game changer to target.
I would be devastated if lolohea was our big signing, ive played a bit of footy with him and he doesnt have a footy brain, just a bit of flair and not much else. You put him in the spine where he gets to call the shots and we lose all direction.
If we can get a spine of 1.gordon 6.widdop/johnson 7.brooks 9.mckilwrick then we will be on track to get back towards the 8\. Our forward pack is still unfortunate especially if we lose woods. Mcqueen and matulino will add something, we're probably 1 hard running second rower off a semk decent forward pack then, could maybe use another prop but already unrealistic enough as it is

Did you ever play with/against Corey Harawira-Naera? Any views on him as a second rower?

Nah mate i think he left nz in his early teens, looks the goods in that penrith pack though. Is he off contract is he?
In my opinion we need more mongrel in the forwards, but after seeing taupau fifita gavet and blair all not only leave, but shine at new clubs sort of suggests that its not encouraged at wests and almost coached out of them.
That being said i find it hard to see a young forward seeing us as an exciting prospect unfortunately

Yeah he's off contract and they're going to struggle to keep him I would imagine given they've invested in Cartwright, Peachey, Merrin, Fisher-Harris and Yeo long term. You'd get him with an offer of a first grade opportunity but if he keeps his form up there'll be multiple clubs making that offer. I wouldn't be surprised to see Melbourne sniffing around him.

Idris has 1 assist last weekend to nofas try. Gordon has 1 year left in him at best, then were going to have to change the spine again. I believe tedesco will stay cause he just bloody has to, but if tedesco does leave its better to blood some up and coming player so we can start building something
@ said:Hed go good at melbourne i think. Id be happy if he came to wests, i just think we need to get a bit more experience, weve got enough young blood and its doing more harm than good at the moment. At the moment the forward pack looks to lawrence as someone with experience… hes not exactly an imposing player -_-
@ said:Good point on gordon mate, but in saying that i dont imagine hed come with a monster price tag.
Im just nervous that we get stuck with rankin at fullback, in my opinion the worst regular 1st grader in the nrl last year. Before that there was curtis rowe, failed to perform in first grade. If moses leaves this yr and littlejohn goes into the halves we lose all attacking credibility. Then come next yr we sign a marquee half but stuck with rankin at the back itl be the same thing.
@ said:@ said:@ said:@ said:Plenty of people will hate this idea, but… If Teddy were to leave, I'd go after Hayne.
He's feel right at home in Cambo…while we're at it lets get Cronk too
What's with the sarcastic comment regarding Cronk? How is signing Hayne anymore unrealistic than signing Johnson, Widdop etc?
Im just chucking my 2 bobs worth in like everyone else…relax
