Gus Gould is doing his best to deny it, but Penrith are a club in crisis as their season self-destructs before their eyes.

Senior players, led by skipper Matt Moylan, don’t see eye to eye with Anthony Griffin and several stars are considering asking for releases if the coach stays at the helm in 2018.

The Panthers have lost their last five matches straight and the pre-season title favourites now look at long odds to make the finals.

I’ve been told Griffin snapped in the sheds in the wake of the heavy defeat in Brisbane last weekend, at one stage threatening to sack the entire team and give the Panthers’ NSW Cup team a run in the top grade.

Griffin was fuming at the soft tries the Panthers conceded to the Broncos and has demanded his troops play tougher after the representative round this weekend.

Players are openly questioning Griffin’s tactics and selections and the club is not a happy place to be at the moment.

Alex Glenn Squeezed out of Brisbane in 2018?

Bronco Star Alex Glenn may leave Brisbane Due to limited Salary Cap space in 2018.

Glenn, 28, is out of contract at the end of the 2017 season and it is understood Wayne Bennett has informed the Kiwi and Cook Island International that he could not guarantee him a spot next season at his current salary.

It is believed Glenn first priority is to stay at the Broncos, but the recent signing of Jack Bird on a multi-million contract and the future signings of Darius Boyd, Anthony Milford and James Roberts will not leave much salary cap space left for Glenn.

With a young family, Glenn knows he needs to secure the right deal for his financial future. Glenn has been heavily linked with a move to the Warriors in 2017, but it is understood the Knights are beginning to kick the wheels on the 28-year and have opened discussions between the two parties.

Glenn made first grade debut for the Brisbane Broncos in Round 1 of the 2009 NRL season against the North Queensland Cowboys playing off the interchange bench in the Broncos 19-18 win at Suncorp Stadium.

Glenn has gone on to play a further 199 games for the Broncos since his debut and has become a favourite among the Broncos supporters.

Glenn has put no time-line of making a decision, as his sole focus is playing his best football for the Broncos, but it is understood that he wants his playing future decided sooner rather then later.

Bulldogs fullback Will Hopoate is still putting his faith before footy and would like to have Sundays off in his next contract.Hopoate is tipped to leave the club next year to make way for Aaron Woods and Kieran Foran and sent a message to clubs looking at picking him up.

"In a perfect world absolutely I'd like it in my next contract," Hopoate told AAP.

"But I understand we don't live in a perfect world and you don't get everything you want."

The 24-year-old missed four games last year and is prepared to sit out on more this season because of his religious beliefs.

"That's in the contract and Des has spoken to me about it and no doubt we'll chat about it next week and come to a formal agreement," Hopoate said.

"My faith means everything to me and at the same time I've got a duty to my employers."

The Bulldogs face the Roosters next Sunday and come up against the Panthers in round 13 and Newcastle in round 18 on the sabbath.

Doesn't seem to have any trouble taking a pass from Roberts, after Roberts has made a break.

How fast do you want him to be?

Lots of people take Roberts passes, after Roberts has already burned his energy on a 50 m carry and slowed down to distribute.

I just don't rate him and I'm sure he is adequately fast for winger, I mean they have Corey Oates on the other side, but I only get excited about JAC or James Roberts fast. Average fast means half the guys will catch you.

Unlike JAC - Kahu has a brain. He'll do me on one wing and he is a very good goal kicker which we do not have at this stage. In all the people we are talking about signing there does not seem to be a decent kicker among them. Adequate at a pinch, good no.
