Just watching Curtis tear it up at Shark Park. If rumours are to be believed, his younger brother will be doing the same next year.

Maloney being given a going over by the Sea Eagles. Brooks' defence compared to Maloney is rolls Royce like.

And we are paying manly as well for the privlidge, thanks JT we are using Lovett, Edwards and the like while we pay manly for Siro

Hard to believe he and JAC were languishing in ISP last year.

Sirro- one of the most maligned players on this forum - guess he gets the last laugh now. Good luck to him - doing his talking on the field.

Our inability to turn physically gifted athletes to solid first graders points to our historic bad coaching, facilities and culture. There are many more examples going back years Teo, Fifita, Tapau, Koro, JAC, Austin, Siro.
Hopefully this changes under Cleary from next year.

Inexperienced Head Coaches unable to deal with players that don't fit a template.

People saying we don't need both Rona and tupou are fools. While tigers depth in the backs will be better you are basically comparing the new signings to the current squad. Thompson Milne and fonua hardly walk up starts to the team. Back line needs both tupou and Rona.

Lolohea
Tupou
Rona
Suli
nofo

Depth with fonua Thompson and Milne is needed.

Will be the backs if both Rona and tupou commit.

Exactly this. Hopefully we can get them both.

I agree. Smoking gun makes heaps of good points regarding the team as well as great info.

We are a dud team at the moment. Brisbane bought Benji for something like $150k and played him reserve grade and now he is killing it. We need to stop thinking about guaranteeing players spots and make them earn it.

We need a quality squad and the players have to prove they are first graders. If they don't cut it then there should be enough depth to replace them.

Siro has been awesome today. He's been good all year actually.

I never understood letting him go. A big edge backrower. His problem was a lack of involvement but heaps of edge players can lose their way based on how the team is playing.

I don't think it comes down to bad coaching or facilities. It comes down to poor retention. All of those players would have performed great for us and some did.

I honestly think betting big on the big 4 which was our big plan was just a terrible decision that hurt us immensely. We were played by them and their player manager.

Fonua and Thompson are both going really well in the ESL. If we end up with Thompson as our 8th best back it would show how far our depth has come in just 12 months.

Fonua is way ahead of Milne at this point but a lot can happen between now and the start of 2018.

Don't agree. Fonua video highlights in the ESL may look good but we how that goes.

I watch every ESL and NRL game in full every week so I'm not basing fit off highlights. Milne has plenty of potential but Fonua is a better player at this stage imo.

Either way it's nice to have Milne, Fonua and Thompson fighting it out for a spot when Chee Kam is a starting centre for us in 2017.

x2 Tbone

That is it in a nutshell, we have had 2 coaches who coached to a preconceived plan, but our squad didn't suit the plans.
That was our downfall, the coaches wouldn't budge from their plan that was failing, lets hope Cleary is smarter, I think he is

ESL backs just don't cut it in NRL.
Look at Tomkins, he was one of the absolute best over there. He comes here and is lucky to be in the top 15 fullbacks in the comp.

One of my biggest concerns is who kicks next year? Lolohea can't kick and none of our signings are goal kickers. Could we kill two birds with one stone and try and get a backrower who can kick like Ethan Lowe or Taukeiaho from the Roosters? The Cowboys wouldn't want to let Lowe go, but the emergence of Hess might help.

Agree. Rankin was also killing it as a fullback at Hull before he joined us as well.
Although if you watch Fonua play he has one style a very rugged style which is basically based around doing the hard yards and the dirty work.
Being a big body will help in the NRL because he shouldn't shy away from the tough stuff. I see him being similar to Jorge Tafua more than anyone else.

I'm not advocating the quality of the ESL by any means. There's an enormous gap between the two comps. At least this time we're signing blokes who are actually playing well over there and as depth, not guaranteed starters.

Wouldn't love either one. Both up against it with the cap if all the paper reports are remotely true.

Something on the nose cause they all can't wait to get outta the joint
