Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

People saying we don't need both Rona and tupou are fools. While tigers depth in the backs will be better you are basically comparing the new signings to the current squad. Thompson Milne and fonua hardly walk up starts to the team. Back line needs both tupou and Rona.

Lolohea
Tupou
Rona
Suli
nofo

Depth with fonua Thompson and Milne is needed.

Will be the backs if both Rona and tupou commit.

Yeah everyone's a fool who doesn't agree with you obviously. Salary caps are finite and we need forwards. Rona would be a great winger but not necessarily a great centre. He didn't set the world alight when he played centre for the Dogs.

Just watching Curtis tear it up at Shark Park. If rumours are to be believed, his younger brother will be doing the same next year.

Maloney being given a going over by the Sea Eagles. Brooks' defence compared to Maloney is rolls Royce like.

Siro has been awesome today. He's been good all year actually.

I never understood letting him go. A big edge backrower. His problem was a lack of involvement but heaps of edge players can lose their way based on how the team is playing.

Thank jt for that

Sirro needed to be shaken out of his complacent comfortable position at WT. Here he could cruise with daddy's support. At Manly he is being paid to perform as a professional. He is performing. He always could, but he needed to find that out without his WT security blanket.

Unfortunately we're the ones paying for him to perform as a professional.

If you think the signings for the back line are infinitely better than what tigers have this year you are deluded. Fonua and Thompson are pretty much signings from a league that isn't much better than ISP/QLD cup. Not even close enough to "top quality" signings. Rona and tupou are NEEDED otherwise there's not much changing in terms of finishing ability for 2018

Otherwise, we'd be paying him to continue cruising, taking up a spot in our roster.

Or maybe he'd be a regular starter in our first grade squad? I guess we'll never know, but I'd rather have him take a roster spot and play for us, than paying his salary to play against us. On his form this year he'd be our best second rower by a considerable margin.

I'd take Rona & Tupoa over the Fonua & Thompson combination everyday.

It will be interesting to see what sort of attitude Fonua brings to the Wests Tigers. When he was at Easts Tigers, he was very lazy and struggled to make the Q Cup Team. I'm a fan of a change of scenery to bring out the best in these athletes, so happy to see how he goes.

Personally, If we can land Rona [long shot I'm hearing], he will be the best in our Back 5!

Top signings so far for me.

Packer
Taane Milne

Next signing sweating on conor Watson and tupou .

Would be nice hearing rumours about forwards too.

Milne over Reynolds? Wow

I'd rather hear some official signings as opposed to rumoured ones.

Rona played quite well at centre for the dogs last year, was just about their best back

Manly do not use him as a workhorse. He is used selectively for maximum impact.

No doubt Rona and Tupou are massive upgrades I'd definitely take one of them to pair with Nofa. Milne will be a good signing but he is unproven and we have to hope Suli improves year 2\. Biggest glaring issues are backrow, fullback and prop depth. I can live with the wingers we have and Rona or Tupou.

In a perfect world we add Rona, Tariq Sims, Albert Vete and Connor Watson out of rumoured targets.

Well written SG. Rona and Tupou with their pace, height and finishing are urgently needed in our backline. The fact we are even rumoured to be signing them is down to the foresight of the Board to bring Cleary on early.

Foresight of the board give me a break we are the worst run football club in the country. Cleary is good but giving credit to a board who have assembled a wooden spoon roster is a bit rich. Blind Freddy could see Cleary was the only option.

I have to give credit where it is due. It would have been far easier to leave JT in place.

This is true.

Siro was good today, but its a cop out to continuously use him as an excuse to beat the tired old dead horse that is JT. Some of the blame should rest on Siro's shoulders. He coasted under 3 coaches and never took the next step. How long was the club supposed to wait? Siro himself said a few weeks ago in an interview that he was living off his junior level reputation and never felt like he had to do the hard yards and getting the boot was the wake up call he needed. It seems to have done him the world of good. Was good to see him not take the easy road and blame everyone else, he had nothing to lose by doing so. The fact he didn't and admitted his flaws with us, won him some points with me. Hopefully people take this into consideration the next time they use him as an excuse to beat a dead horse.
