Totally agree with this comment

But if paying some of his contract to get rid of him is what we have to do i wonder if we could frontload our outlay from this years cap so it didn't hinder us in future years

Surely we still have money to spend in this years cap

If said player asks for and is granted a release, he becomes uncontracted ….if picked up by the titans, it’s a new contract between titans and said player..

What you guys are failing to acknowledge is when a player is on the out of favour at a club, they will often ask for a release with conditions attached. It is common for a player to ask for a release with the condition that their contract be topped up by their current club. The club does not have to accept this but may if they are happy to have the player leave.

Exactly

That's why i agreed with GNR4LIFE post

We don't know what goes on behind closed doors

A player may want a release and the club may agree but the club the player wants to go to may not be willingto pay his current salary

Therefore the player decides to stay at current club

But the club really wants him gone ao they agree to top up his contract

Not that hard to understand

IC may just be willing to top up his contract to see him gone as it seems pretty obvious he is not in IC future plans

Yeah I agree with you as well, was more so debating the number of posters on here stating that if a player ask for a release than their club doesn't have to pay them anything, this is not always the case.

Totally agree

I can’t believe the whole debate on, is the club liable or not liable to pay if a player asks for a release.
It’s pretty simple the club is liable to pay what ever is agreed to by the players management, the new club and the West’s Tigers.

Now if the player is in hot demand, probably nothing, the new club would take on the contract or offer a better deal. In McQueens case I doubt the Coast would pay 400g a year, so their would be some deal brokered.

Agree with Farah, if he has it in him, Liddle needs more time if it is at all worth it.
After watching the Newtown V Norths game I’d go as far as saying he is not in the same league as the younger Brailey.
The sharks are an attractive team at the moment. 2nd last team to win a GF and not yet losing that lustre. I hope Gallen and Lewis play one year too long and they end up having a similar season to the Cowboys of this year.
Here’s hoping anway.

Was listening to MMM on the way in to work they had flanno on. He said it'd be hard to keep both Brailey brothers as he sees both of them them as 9s only.

I should be a little fairer on Liddle I suppose.
My comment was based on the lack of attacking options I see from him at the moment in comparison to the Brailey boy.
Liddle did play 80 in that last game making 63 tackles and 53 run meters. All behind a well beaten pack. According to nswrl stats. Although NBWT claims 73, 140 respectively.

That's exactly what some of us have been trying to say

Nothing more nothing less

Totally agree in shouldn't be such a big deal or so hard to understand

Being impatient and rushing out to sign a player to replace those we have or will release this year is why we are here today
Eg
Tui
Rochow
McQueen and others
If we sign players just because they are available now we will end up in the same predicament next year

It is hard
We all know that
But waiting and making a play for class players is really in our best interest and that's what we all want
Class signings
Not could be's or Maybe's
Look at Newcastle
They landed Pierce
Who would have thought
As clubs struggle with the salary cap
We have an opportunity to pounce

It’s not like the Knights got Pierce on a good deal though. They paid overs, just like we are going to have to do for those players. That’s clearly one of our strategies and the other, looking for diamonds in the rough, landed guys like Rochow and Tui. Until our TPA game lifts it’s our best shot. The other strategy is to develop successful junior players and something I think Ivan will successfully do.

Agreed
Just dont want to buy ordinary players
After Robbie and Benji helped us win today I am beginning to think that we should resign them on a small $ contract
If they truly love the club the amount of money they receive should not matter
They played well today
Happy to admit that I didn't think that they had it in them
If they sign on a minimum contract then we have plenty of experience will still having money for top line players

Although today was a great win we cant forget that a number of Dragons players backed up from origin
We were still good enough to win
WOOOO WHOOOO

I agree with most of what u said except the word small contract.

Im starting to realise as a fan i have to see things from the players view aswell.

Why should farah and Marshall in key positions go on a small contract or deserve one. The same club that turfed them and failed to replace them.

They deserve a decent contract if go on for 1 more year.

It's not always about the money
I took a 20% pay cut because I knew I would be happier in a new job
And I was and i had no regrets
Imagine how Robbie and Benji would feel if a little sacrifice from them helped our club achieve more and helped us get to the finals
It would be a great deed by both players no doubt
One that proves that they are still good guys and have always put the club 1st
The question is what would make them more happy
$$$$ or helping the Tigers get to the Finals
Farah and Benji wont be signed by any other club at this stage
So why not 1 more year with us

$$$$ or success

100%, why should they be punished for sticking around?
