People have probably said it before on this thread but I don't think the players we pick up are going to be free agents in the main. They will be internal negotiations with unhappy players or clubs squeezed by the cap. You can't really count anybody out aka Woods being 6 months into a 4 year contract yada yada…

In a season where not a lot of quality is off contract the best pick-up's will be in the off-season.

I would hope that with the CAP money Wests Tigers have available to spend that would be 5 spots for quality first graders ready to play first grade in 2019.

Interesting, I thought we had more than 5 spots available.

I might be wrong but by my count we have Grant, Naiqama, MWZ, Lolohea all confirmed to depart the club at seasons end. At the moment we have 29 players listed on the website, leaving room for 5 more.

Now that's not to say there won't be more as the likes of Farah and Marshall may go around one more year - or not, and we don't have official word on what Sue is doing, so we may need to chase more, but the club is certainly quiet on the signing front at the moment. We have money, but we're spending it wisely these days.

If McIntyre has been upgraded then Mikaele may have been upgraded as well, plus a 12 month extension for Farah.

My suggestions from players being discussed would be:
Daniel Tupou or Robert Jennings
Marty Tapau or Zane Tetevano or Sio Vave
Corey Oates
Ryan Matterson
Brian Kelly or Tyrone Roberts-Davis

However, if we are talking players that are not actually available - then who knows who we could be chasing.

I'm hearing that we might not have McQueen (hanging up boots) and Gamble (homesick) next season. Probably another season for Farah and Marshall maybe .. takes us back to 22 .. ?? Maybe another one or two getting an upgrade from ISP .. ??
