Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

And it's pretty evident that we need a centre. Atm Marsters and ??? Fonua is the only candidate, and though I really do like his enthusiasm and his passion, there are a lot of mistakes in his game. He's a goodish backup, sort of good anyway.

If Bird continues to get pandered to, he'll stay a spoilt brat and never be great at any club. The best thing for him would be for the Broncos to stay tough until he realises that he does actually have to work hard. He would be so much better for it.
If we got him now, no way would we get the best out of him.

I think the club would 100% be chasing players we need , the club could already have secured 2 or 3 players but no names will be released until season end , or the club they currently play for are out of the running for a finals spot , this could be the only thing I can think of as teams already have announced plenty of player movements and Signings , we can't let 5 or 6 players go and not be covering them , there is a lot of talk about players under contract who could be moved on or are chasing releases as well , Tigers would not be sitting on their hands as Ivan Cleary is to smart for that and if he is staying for his next 2 years he needs an injection to get us further up the ladder , he would also know this and that's why , Grant , Sue and the others are on the move
My Tip is , if Brooks is not extended by November we are makeing a play for Nathan , I also think we will buy a hard Forward and a Centre
Nathan Cleary
Martin Tapau / Merrin /
Brain Kelly

x2, good post

Well thought Andrew, for the most part i agree. I have just have some doubts about having signed players and everyone keeping it hush hush until the end of the season.

I dont think that happens anymore in todays game, may be wrong but i dont remember the last genuine surprise signing, usually its played out in the media before it is announced.

I would consider one of those backs at:
Hayne - 250k
Bird - 350k
Munster- 650k
But our priority spending shall be on: 2 props, 2 2nd rowers, and lock? :sign:

im glad youre not a player manager or in charge of recruitment.

munsters next contract will be close to $1mil a year

Yeah those figures are completely unrealistic. I think Munster will go for > $1 million.

"A hard forward"?????

Ive seen lots of people suggest Brian Kelly but Im not convinced he is a good fit at the Tigers.

He certainly looks like he can play, fast & elusive, like a Bevan French but good. My concern though is he is small and it seems at the Tigers we are using our centres/wings as forwards early on a kick return. Kelly would have as much impact as Thompson in this regard and I can see fonua definitely having more impact in this role.

Kelly is deceptively strong he has broken many a tackle his reads in defence is shady.

Thinking the same…...we are talking 2018 not 1990...Haynes would not even talk to you for under 600g a year, Bird 750 and Munster a mill

Hayne would want double that, Bird is on a million a season - can't see the Broncos topping up his contract by 650k - and if he wants a release they probably won't top up anything - wouldn't get him under 750k if that was the case. And Munster will be at least a million a season and maybe more if a biding war starts.

There's far too many players on the way out at season's end for there not to be a clear plan and most likely several deals already done
Plenty of good players out there, numerous coach movement creates new player availability opportunities
We are in the fortunate position of having weaknesses in most spots so we are in the market for pretty much anyone although we definitely have priorities even if we all argue what they should be
I'm sure we'll snag a few, we just have to be patient and in the meantime, let's get a win tonight, this Tiger has had a good run living on the northern beaches for the last few years, long may it continue

Thats a different way of looking at the situation.

Id already be looking elsewhere, I just dont see enough something out of nothing from him.

I cant believe the figures people throw up. Yours are much closer to the mark.

Personally id go to 1.2 million for Munster, he is the next Wally Lewis

Thoughts on Dylan Walker? Rumours he was being shopped earlier in the season..

Now you are talking.

Quality player whose off field incidents have lowered his value.

Would be the best centre we have had since Paul Whaturia or someone from way back when.

You would have to run that past the roosters first
They will probably sign him as back up

Munster won't leave Melbourne. With Billy retiring, it opens up the opportunity for him to grab the fullback spot again which is his preferred position.

Cowboys can offer the fullback spot too
