Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We need to sign better players. We will be better next year but so will the Eels, Cowboys, Knights etc. if we don’t improve the roster drastically we will be on the outside looking in again. This is a mid table team a lock for 9-10th spot every year.

A healthy knights team as in ponga and pearce fit for the season they would've finished above us this year. Just seems strange that no rumblings from the media etc on who potential targets might be. Most secretive operation in NRL history with no leaks on who our potential targets might be.

We had Reynolds out for %95 of the season.
Liddell for 8 weeks
Marshall for 5
Fonua with broken arm
Thompson with season ender.
Players sacked
Tui exiled
I find it quite rich to say a team who finished 6 points behind would have been better if one player avoided injury.
Imagine where we would have been if we had our desired 17 each week.

does anyone have direct contact with pascoe, just to ask the question are we likely to make any key signings and how many do we look like getting. no names , or positions just a general answer for the fans and put us all at ease.

We've had no leaks which suggests greater professionalism and perhaps lots going on behind closed doors. I am happy to wait for the inevitable announcements.

That’s how I see it too. More of a glass half full approach.

I've been patient, but saying we will have 29 by Christmas is no real promise. Fans are crying out for some half-decent players. Upgrading 3 juniors to make up the numbers aint the same.

Anyways, I'm continuing my prayer vigil for Taupau & TPJ. Wish me luck.

Us signing Tapau and a TPJ would be like a miracle of the parting of the Red Sea proportions! At this stage, I'd be happy if we could get Merrin, Tamou and Hetherington from the Panthers to beef up our forwards.

The backs stocks are looking very thin now. Still hoping Kelly will come over, but I won't be holding my breath. I'd love Oats on the wing, but that's another one out of our reach. Only just found out that Maumalo has re-signed with the Warriors - shame, he would've been a great pick up. The only other one I can think of available is Feki, who we were interested in at one stage. He goes ok, but we really need more size and speed in our backline.

Unless some top line players are going to be breaking their contracts over the off season, it's really not looking very promising for us for 2019.

I get it that a number of forum members don't like negative posts but the whole vibe around WT at the moment is not good. Finishing 9th in my mind was a better than expected performance but looking to the future I can't see us improving. Being realistic I see us dropping to the bottom 4 next year unless we sign 4 quality players at a minimum.
The silence as they say is deafening. I think there are behind the scenes troubles at WT surrounding Ivan's future and the failure to sign the players we need to take us from 9th to the top 8 or even top 4\. While I think the Ivan situation is undecided, the mere fact that it's uncertain is creating instability at the club. My take on Ivan is that he'll stay if he has to but will go if WT can agree a deal with Penrith.
While that is playing out we aren't able to sign the players we need to improve. And if Ivan does go we'll need a new coach and there's not a lot of quality out there on the coaching front. I don't accept the suggestion that we are waiting until finals are over before announcing signings out of respect for players who haven't finished their seasons. No other club is doing that so why would we. As each day goes by players are being announced as new signings by other clubs but the best we can do is announce one Roosters ISP player.
I hope I'm wrong but as each day goes by we are at risk of losing the 2019 season before a ball is kicked.

well said, but we need to let the club know that we as supporters are not happy.

The problem is if we let ivan go who is to say it wont happen again to our next coach that does well here.

For example madge does well and another club poaches him too.

Pascoe was right to stand solid and looks like ivan will be here until contract expires on legality.

You make the club a place that good coaches and good players want to stay at.

I agree with Enoch Thompson.
Pascoe held his ground and used legal warning to anyone looking to bend the rules in a contract.
A very firm message delivered to anyone looking to poach or break contract, should be more of it.
I see some on here that say and i quote "if he wants to leave let him go"…...............that is the losing mentality that you have in your bloodline, The old saying it starts at the top.
If the Big Kahuna's cant fight to win a battle to keep their head-coach what message does that send to the playing group?
And like Nucky Said it will open a can of worms every time a coach who has a good year with us is eyed of by a strong club who have had a bad season but a history of financial manipulation to gain what they want.
The VB hard earned effort of the year goe's to Pascoe for Growing a pair when we needed him too.

We may have 29 layers by xmas but 25 that are crap and will lead to more disappointment next year we need 5 good players for next year.

You would think after a year where we just missed the finals and beat most of the better sides the forum would be pretty up beat re 2019\. Like most I have some real negative vibes about next year based on the coaching drama and our recruitment drive. We need some real speed, power and quality and I just can’t see where we are going to get it from

gee some people on here come up with crap, trying to cover the clubs failure to sign players, the best been players still in the finals, WELL it didnt stop these players been named,

Ferguson to eels
ramien to knights
glasby to knights
sims to dragons
lee to knights
crithen to roooters

not to mention every other player who has changed clubs the name i dont see is the TIGERS signing anyone.

If that's the best list you can come up with of signings the Tigers have missed out on I'm not remotely bothered.

Ferguson has had a good season but he's hardly a game changer.
Ramien looks promising, would have been good to see him at the Tigers. But he's had one season in first grade - everyone on here is always moaning about signing "promise".
Glasby is absolutely bog average.
Sims is a decent bench prop.
Lee is a fringe first grader/backup winger.
Crichton was done a year ago - the Tigers have made a marquee signing more recently.

I’m glad we missed out on Nick Meaney, looks crap.
Defends like Mitch Moses.
