Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

To the post above…. The Salary Cap is there, but some clubs are spending millions more than others due to the quality of their TPAS.

Roosters also have no juniors but they attract players based on their location and the fact they can pay a bit more with TPAs. So its not really even.

Who wouldn't wanna live at Cambo! You get to dine at Hooters.

Give me Cambo over Bondi any day.

Was watching controversy corner last night and the Nathan Cleary stuff came up. The comment was made “why would he go to the Tigers, who have nothing, when he can stay at Penrith with all its facilities and huge junior breeding ground.” It just made be realise not much has changed yet. We are viewed by most as a dead end. Our facilities are poor, we are nomads, our roster is pedestrian and we are not connected to the big end of town. We used to have a successful junior development program and I’m at a loss to explain what has happened to that.
Our current policy is we won’t play overs for anyone, therefore we will not attract high quality prime players.
Get used to the Oliver Clark, Paul Momirovski type signings folks - that’s all we’re gonna attract imho.

The media have zero respect for our team or our club. You only have to listen to the things they say when they interview some of our more successful former players like Tedesco now, Moses last season and Fifita in previous years with connotations of ‘aren’t you glad you left that mob to play for a decent NRL club and now you’re reaping rewards you would never have gotten if you stayed at the Tigers’.

They talk and write about the Clearys as _only_ being together at Penrith, like there would be no possibility at all of them ever teaming up at the Tigers. Perish the thought! Their attitude is exactly like what was mentioned above on the show “why would they? “Penrith have everything, there is nothing at the Tigers”

Honestly it stinks, even the journos purported to be WT supporters don’t respect us. Newcastle, Parramatta, Canberra and even the Titans are held in higher regard.

Probably was Elias - the white ant.

I've got a lot of faith in Pascoe. He might be our savour here. He established the COE at Penrith and seems to be on track to do the same here. $30 million tipped in from Canada Bay council is no mean feat.

As soon as we get that, our fortunes will change. It needs to be our #1 focus.

it will be great , BUT its another 5 year plan, i think most tigers fans are over these 5 year plans.

it is a great signing but its just one, we have loads of cap and we really need a gun center and 2 more very good forwards, the knights are why in front of us in regards to signings and what they have stated who they want, its just becoming a joke.

Brad Takairangi supposedly told he can leave Parra if he gets a deal elsewhere.A big strong body that can play second row and centre.

Well clubs are not spending millions more through TPAs, they are potentially gaining an advantage through more lucrative TPAs. They aren't spending the money, someone else is, and officially the club and TPA are supposed to be at arm's length.

Obviously I'm no fool to consider TPAs are even, but also we have no idea of the totals of the TPAs - NRL claims that teams aren't as far apart as fans might think. Hence why I believe it's a good idea to publicise player salaries and TPAs, to make it all transparent.

In terms of juniors, I agree with you and it's not a question about evenness. It's about journo comments that a big junior system makes for a more enticing club, which I think is rubbish, as proven by the Roosters.

I don't think we have any other options besides shooting ourselves in the foot again and start offering silly contracts and/or backloading as we have in the past.

The fact of the matter is we are where we are. You do not want a good management team getting frustrated with supporters who are unrealistic. We're on the right path for once, let's stick to it.

Good signings before we have this COE will come. We just have to be smart about it. Mbye is the perfect example of patience over impatience.

The COE will only bring us into line with other clubs, it wont be some huge advantage. Fremantle in the AFL have a new COE whch is regarded as the best in any sport in Australia, they still cant make the finals.

The losing mindset needs to change.

Very poor thus far and can only hope that POM's info comes through.

Staying at the same resort as a recently forced retired WT player that I think is still employed there. He is with his Mrs and three kids, so I won't be rude, but will try and get some insight if the chance arises.
