I think, (am happy for this to be noted and brought up at the end of the season) that this year was Cooks breakout year and best year in the NRL.

**He has limited talent apart from speed and coaches will have worked him out totally for 2019.** He won't be half as good next year especially if Siebold leaves.

Not a million dollar player imo and - Yes it was Madge that preferred RF.

I think you are wrong. Very wrong.

That makes us even Avo.

I am wrong about Cook. Very wrong (according to you).

You are wrong about Liddle. Very wrong (according to me).

We'll see.

James Gavet -Knights for 2 years

Was a big fan of him when he was here. We could've used him as an impact prop off the bench

Gavet had a lot of problems when he was at the Tigers, he even admitted that he had a problem with alcohol.

Anyone got any idea how much cap we have to spend for 2019
Obviously the more we have to spend the better quality we can buy when they come on the market
Not interested in if we offload players because that's just here say for now
Would we have a million $
Maybe 1.2 million?
800 thousand

Any ideas
Anyone

The amount we have to spend will allow us to be realistic on who we can sign

Also front loading Brooks may come in to play here if the quality is just not out there

Another one I would love to get back, those were the days

We had Marty Taupau and Gavet running off the back of eachother. What a sight! Too bad we were all too invested in the potential in the "Big 4" that we never realised how important those two were. Although not too successful, I still miss that 2014 Wests Tigers team.

Yet they still bombed making the 8\. Gavet average tapau not far ahead of him.

That's why I mentioned the team was not too successful. Your opinion is different to mine, thats fine.

Surely we front-loaded around half a million on last year's cap.
Would love that to be confirmed.

If only I had a dollar for every time someone used the term “hard running back rower” or “hard running centre”. What absolute garbage descriptions. Aren’t all players supposed to run hard?

Its very noticeable when theres a roosters/melb or broncos etc game on after ours.
we seem to be forever looking for gaps, steppin and dancin

All good

All good just don't agree with a lot of people comments on how good they were and talk about how good potter was.

Mate ….. missing the point ...... would love an origin player but not and willing to pay what it takes ..... but with what we have ..... not a hooker ...... and particularly not Cook. He’s a one trick pony ..... now if you are talking about a Smith type player .... then you’re talking.
Just my opinion.

Farah will retire and Liddle hasn't shown enough to persist with him. Cook is one of the best hookers in the game. Enough waiting. Let's get the best players we can right now.

There are exactly two ways to win in the NRL:
- Have money to spend outside the cap.
- Get value out of your cap money.

Option one isn't available to the Tigers, so it has to be option two. Giving up on a promising (and cheap!) young player because he's been injured and replacing him with an admittedly good player on absolute top coin is exactly how you don't do option two. Jacob Liddle turned 22 a fortnight ago for god's sake, and 2018 was basically a write off for him because of injury. It would be borderline moronic to cut bait on him now.

Cool, and if he's still injured at 24 do we say "he just turned 24 a fortnight ago for god's sake"? Do we put all our eggs in one basket with a hooker that appears to be injured more than he's not? A team's spine needs to stay healthy for much of the year to remain competitive, and considering our number 6 AND our "future" number 9 are the very definition of injury prone, it's hard to see that happening. A couple of years ago I was a big fan of Liddle, I thought he had a massive future, but even last year when he came back from injury we looked worse when Farah came off and he went on.

Ivan was allegedly looking at Segeyaro for this season and re-signed Farah. Now Maguire is allegedly looking at Cook. If Liddle is our future then it's strange our past coach and now our new coach are looking at alternative hooking options. Unless all those rumours were incorrect of course..

Massive difference between Segeyaro and Cook. Segeyaro is at the back end of his career and presumably wouldn't have broken the bank, gives you a year or two of breathing room to work out what you have with Liddle and gives the youngster a fair chance of winning the starting spot. Cook is a rep player on absolutely top dollar who you'd basically be committing to as starter for the next four years and would completely block the path for Liddle.

Liddle is the main reason I think re-signing Farah was smart. He needs a chance to show whether or not he's up to it, while not debilitated by unhealed injuries. Farah is good enough, and presumably cheap enough, to give a year to see what we have with Liddle.

This

He is not

My biggest worry for 2019, is how do we give Liddle game time. Either Reynolds or Benji will be no14, so you can’t afford to carry a back up nine on the bench and run with just two forwards. Okay granted injuries may change all of the above, but given everyone is fit, either Reynolds,Farah, Marshall or Liddle will have to play in reggies and I know who will get the short straw.

Don’t quote me on this but I think Farah mentioned something in an interview about being open to taking weeks off to give liddle a game here and there. Not sure how well that’ll work for us though

Whose our goal kicker next year?
It would be nice to sign a good one.

Our goal kicker will be .. our goal kicker form last season .. Esan Masters ..

Wasn’t sure if they were going to run with a bloke who kicks around the mid 70s.
Would be nice to have a bloke who adds 4-6 more points a week in the team.
We’d have won a few more games if we did.

Better to have a hooker on the bench than a 5/8\. Marshall was fine with playing reggies in Brisbane, maybe he can help Gamble develop there.

Liddle can play left right out.
