Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If Walker does leave Manly they have Albert Hopoate. Who is now in Manly's top 30\. He's 18 in 2019\. May play wing or centre at some point in the season. He has size and speed.

He has size speed, but what about a strong finger?

I agree with others that this thread is particularly frustrating and, at times, tedious while at the same time strangely adictive….
To be honest, I would much rather a separate thread for each rumoured player, not this 1100 page marathon. Why do we have one gigantic thread and does anyone agree with me?

Yes, I definitely agree.

The contract section would be nothing but name after name of pointless threads if you devoted a thread to each player. Dozens and dozens of threads that would clog up stuff that is actually relevant. It’s better that it’s all in one thread.

Agree with GNR. Better to have all the suggested signings in the one thread, leave stand alone threads for official / reported signings

I click on page 139 -last read post- and just skip to the end.
Its too hard, like arriving really really late at a party

I think one for each rumour would be too many. I do think it could be broken up into 3 threads. Backs 1 to 5 Spine 1 7 6 9 and forwards

I always assumed this thread was for idle chit chat. You know - "why don't we go after [unrealistic prospect on giant contract at another club]", "my uncle cleans the bogs at [other club] and he reckons we're chasing [some guy]", "what does anyone reckon about [16 year old who plays juniors with my nephew]".

They get their own thread when there's something tangible. Like Curtis Rona. 😉

There would 200 threads if that was the case

Far more ridiculous!!!
If there was a show called Ridiculousness then this post would be on it.

PS. I acknowledged that pre injury he wasn’t average. Fair go GNR

And immediately post hip injury he was in career best form, culminating with playing for Australia.

IMHO, he was pretty terrible at that time. But Australia were short some good centres and Sheens was coach.

Hodges and Inglis ??

Bit handy

Inglis was the other centre. Justin Hodges, Jamie Lyon, Mark Gasnier and Matt Cooper were all injured.

The Newcastle Knights have rejected the St George Illawarra Dragons offer to swap Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Kurt Mann, as reported by The Newcastle Herald.

I would of accepted the offer, would of moved Edrick Lee into first grade on the wing and Kurt Mann could of been a solid depth centre. Kenny-Dowall is 30 now and Lee could of added some more pace to their backline.

Kurt Mann would definitely be worth a look. He is a great squad player. can cover, Fullback, Centre, Wing and 5/8\. I think the Knights were even looking at him to be a bench hooker/utility.

Dont tell the telegraph but he might have an association with Maguire from the Storm days?

Knights forum suggesting he's being looked at as a 9 for them. Provides good utility as you've mentioned.

Two parts to recruitment. One is signing players the other is letting players go.

2019 LOSSES

JJ Felise, Pita Godinet (released), Tim Grant (Penrith Panthers), Tuimoala Lolohea (Leeds Rhinos), Matt McIlwrick (South Sydney Rabbitohs), Taane Milne (released), Kevin Naiqama (St Helens RLFC), Bayley Sironen (South Sydney Rabbitohs), Sauaso Sue (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs), Malakai Watene-Zelezniak (Penrith Panthers)

10 players and all great decisions by the club.

On the right track.

Lee will already get a start on the wing. As it stands they'll probably be:

1\. Watson/Ponga
2\. Lee
3\. Ramien
4\. Moga
5\. SKD
6\. Ponga/Watson
7\. Pearce

If Moga is still injured Hymel Hunt or Nathan Ross will come into the centres.
