Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I have started turning games off early and I'm much less bothered by results. Unfortunately I can't put in the safe effort as I used to, especially when the players don't.

All good with me how others choose to follow the team, I've given up on this being a fairytale year and probably won't go to another game even though I'm a member.

I pray the team can turn yours and many others passion for the club around with some gut busting performances

@happy_tiger I will tune in every week with hope and still follow all the news, but the important thing for me is to control the negative impact of a loss

Yeah, went on Friday, but mainly because it was our first home game there and doubt that I will backup for a Thursday night game against the bunnies. Our seats have been left vacant much more often than filled since the start of 2017.

Hardens them up .....at this age they should be sneaking off with their old man's grog anyway lol

@formerguest I think it's normal to feel that way. We have stuck solid through a lot, mate, but it is harder and harder to justify the positivity you, myself and others have preached. I just want results now and am realistic enough to see we aren't quite there yet.

Sorry people, but I’m done being patient. This cycle of losing and having to wait for the mythical pot of gold at the end of a rainbow just never seems to end. Losing the seemingly unlosable signature of DWZ this morning was the last straw.

Well, what options do you have? Either waiting patiently and hoping for the best (ie, accepting mediocrity!) or stop watching (ie, being a quitter).

I'll be cheering them on for the rest of my life, but I can't begrudge someone who can't do it anymore. Feel free to come back when we start winning.

Yeah, I don’t get it either. As supporters, we have no control over anything. We have one of 2 choices. Endure it, or walk away. Moaning about it, doesn’t make you any better than anyone else, because you are still here, being a glutton for punishment like the rest of us.

Whinging about it from time to time is cathartic. What else can you do with a team like this?

Whinging is fine. But whinging about others not whinging, and believing that that means they accept mediocrity I can’t agree with, because they accept it just like the rest of us because they haven’t walked away.

Yeah OK I can cop that. Those who want to continually look on the brightside shouldn't be laid on, purely because they want to believe that the best intentions are always there. Unfortunately there's more of one type of supporter than the other and that's because the club is a total basketcase at the moment, for reasons both within and outside their control.

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I've been feeling the pain for a long time too and reading your thoughts along the way. I thought the chance for the club to become a powerhouse was in the half dozen years after 2005. Unfortunately this didn't eventuate.

Like many on here I feel that we have become a poor cousin of other clubs in the Sydney area. I also think that we need to be realistic about ways that we can become a powerful club, where good players want to go. I only see two solutions:

1. Get the Centre of Excellence up and running quick smart and stick to one home ground. An upgrade on Campbelltown Stadium possibly - would be great. Sadly I can't see this happening.
2. Get out of Sydney - Relocate to Perth and get all the benefits that Melbourne got when they began. Some pain here, but a realistic chance of becoming a really strong club.

@Krammy I live in Brisbane and support them so would not effect me where we went... Or we could find our own Nick Pol like the Roosters...

We need sheens back he is the only man that could/would help.

Yes Sheensy is an expert at back ended deals and paying players to play for other teams..

Exactly what we need

@Geo last man to get us into the finals and did it on the scent of a oily rag.

100 years older and out of touch with the modern game - just what we need!

@Krammy Except Melbourne did not get extra Cap benefits. Where they did get benefits I understand is from their owners a certain news corp.

Unlike AFL we don't have a cap incentive to teams not in RL areas.
Melbourne were lucky to get Bellamy and 4 damn awesome players as juniors. We were lucky in 2005 to have Marshall and Farah turn up as excellent Juniors. We could then splurge our cap on Scott Prince and Hodgson. The throw everyone out and hope we get good people method won't work again.

@Geo "Yes Sheensy is an expert at back ended deals and paying players to play for other teams…

Hey I would take an expert on back ended deals. Perhaps not Raylene Castle though, the problem with Sheens is he's an Amatuer at it.

Where Sheens rocked was his coaching plays. I remember Sterlo saying "Everyone is copying Melbourne. Only 3 coaches are doing something different, Sheens, Haslier [and someone I have forgotten]" Sheens has extreme talent at coming up with winning plays. He is useful in that and if hired could be good for that and maybe individual spot player coaching. Get him in for 1/2 an afternoon and train a crazy play then GO back to the hole Sheens...

Tyson Gamble <>Rhys Martin swap on the cards

That really doesn't help us. We have enough small and ineffective back rowers. Massive pass on Martin

Sheens had us playing an attractive style of footy that made us a respected side. One thing under Sheens, we wouldn't have let outstanding junior talent leave that has gone on to have great success as other clubs.

At least Sheens back ended deals when we were serious contenders. He went all in and it backfired. We are now in a cap mess and mid table never close to challenging.
