@balmain-boy yep that's why its imperative we release the duds mentioned.

You can't just "release" players. if they're under contract, you owe them the money - on the cap and in their bank account.

but he is now 10 times the player in a star studded team compared to what he was when he was with us

I think Tedesco was just as good for us as anything he's done for Roosters. He just gets to pick his moments more because they don't rely on him so heavily.

What Tedesco has really done is gone to another level at Origin, after several series under his belt. He's proving to be one of those players who is good at club level but outstanding at rep level, reminds me of Tim Brasher.

Why? Because they both have seven letters in their names and they were both FB's.

Can't see any other similarities myself.

names mentioned as targets for next season at the moment are

Welch and Capewell via The Pom

Ese Ese via The Mole

Like I said, because Tim Brasher was good for the Tigers at fullback and terrific for NSW during Origin. He went to another level during representative matches. He probably could have had a storied career with "a better club". Brasher kept getting picked because of his ability to mix it with the elite players, despite playing for an ordinary club.

Brasher played every Origin between 1993 and 1998 (18 straight matches at fullback), plus Game 3 1992 and the call-back Games 2 and 3 in 2000. He won 62% (13/21) of Origin matches. During that same period 1993-1998 he won only 32% of matches with Balmain.

IMO Tedesco is much more impactful during Origin than club games. David Klemmer is also.

@pawsandclaws1 imagine if we still had one of Paps, teddy, Moltz or JAC, it’s honestly by far the biggest problem and lack of speed has unfairly made the team look disinterested/incapable , unfortunately it’s a hard asset to find in a bloke and none of them have much urgency to get over the stripe ! Even attracting that kind of player for somebody as talented as Madge is tough at a club like hours... I’m saying it again, patience

Next year won’t be much different unless things change extremely quickly (I.e, this weekend)

With the Raiders signing George Williams to play 7 next year & Wighton locked in at 6 we should be looking at Sezer who is a very good goal kicker & a decent half too .

Just thinking about it makes me feel sick. Scraping the bottom of the barrel to fill position we dont need filling with players ready for the exit doors at other clubs.

@jirskyr I do not remember Balmain bein an ordinary club in the late 80 or 90.

Late 80s no, 90s - absolutely yes. Didn't finish better than 10th in the 90s and collected the wooden spoon in 1994. There was one 8th finish (1 place outside finals) but that was 1997, so we were 8th out of 12 clubs AKA 5th last.

@momo_amp_medo

So you reckon a half from a team in the top 4 would be scraping the bottom of the barrell , fair enough , lol

@vlad he'd definitely be an upgrade on both Brooks and Benji. Would be a [perfect signing if on reasonable coin.

Sezer would be a big step down from both Benji and Brooks. And I’m not Brooks biggest fan.

The Pom is like a stripper who doesn’t go all the way - just gets you interested then leaves before you’re satisfied.

Love your work Pom but I wish you were on here weekly giving us signing updates!!
