Newcastle will have to pay close to it. Star players that can win games are rare. They have to rebuild the squad accordingly. Newcastle’s problem is the coach.

Its so obvious it is the coach. He went for short term players to save his own job.

The Tigers hired Cleary as Head Coach on a 3 year contract, learning from Potter and Taylor failures, it gave Cleary full control of the roster, and as we all know now Cleary intentionally stuffed our roster for the next 3 years. There was no way the club knew of Cleary’s motives when they hired him... can’t blame the club

Absolutely. Club acted honourably. Cleary on the other hand.......

Apparently the tigers were on the Gold Coast to watch this kid on the weekend, little bit of Ponga about him

Seems like a talented young rugby player. Would be a great signing if we can pull it off. Can't have too many young players with x factor at the club. Would kill it in Flegg with those skills, but can he defend?

The Mole: Wests Tigers planning raid for Titans star AJ Brimson

There's more bad news in store for the bruised and battered Gold Coast Titans.

I'm hearing Wests Tigers are already planning a raid on the Titans' best young player - electric fullback AJ Brimson - for 2021.

Brimson, a match-winning utility back who at 20 will only get better, is signed with the Titans until the end of next season.

That means that the Tigers can begin formal talks with the youngster in November - and word has it they are already preparing an offer too good to refuse.

With Benji Marshall likely to retire at the end of next season, Brimson shapes as the perfect player to fill his large shoes.

Obviously don't want us to pay overs but Brimson is already very good and could be anything. He's only 20 so there is massive upside. I'd rather throw money after someone like him than someone who is a bit broken or a bit long in the tooth.

Brinson is an outstanding talent and is worth what it takes to get him to WTs. You get him and you attract good young players who want to play with him and be coached by Maguire.

Like with any good player there will be plenty of interest from plenty of clubs and history tells me we very seldom win out in a bidding war. Also if he was going to leave the coast you would think he would be lining up with a team who regularly plays finals football after a few years on struggle street at the coast
