Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Take it for what it’s worth but I’ve been told Moylan is only keen on a party life and is pretty much ‘off his face’ most of the time. Not sure how it’s possible with the nrls strict substance policy’s but it could explain his longterm battle with his hamstrings.
If he was to get into the right head space he would be valuable but as much as Madge is a taskmaster and seemingly a good man manager but he might need to take on the role of councillor is he was to tackle the enigma that is Matt Moylan.
What we really need to do is sign another clubs Ryan Papenhuyzen or Kalyn Ponga or Cam Munster. Corey Allan might not be a bad start in the short term. See a lot of similarities to Tedesco in him.

If we were to sign the best young emerging fullback that is poised to go to the next level who is that and which club is currently keeping him on ice?

and.....

not sure if it's been mentioned before, but I do like Turner from Souths...been told to look elsewhere. Was a real goer from memory.....

Actually I was told today we could end up with him... Also we're apparently taking interest in Matt Moylan

Oh! for Pete's sake - why not bring Moltzen back.

I would take Moylan in a heartbeat... Especially if the sharks would pay some of his contract.. Can cover a few positions but my only concern is he is starting to get some hamstring injuries.

Moylan has been a broken machine for some time - and it's not just the physical aspect I'm referring to either.

Moylan can play, but I'd be concerned how his personality would fit into the side. He comes across as supremely arrogant and his 'extracurricular activities' at Penrith may not endear him to other players.

If he wants to remain a party boy it may be better to pass.

We should stay away. Sure he can play but it’s a reynolds situation all over again plus some extra bags.

Have always been a fan of his ability, but definitely comes with risks. Don't think we are in a position to take that on.

Wouldn't go anywhere near him. Apparently the moylan rumour came from the "winemaker" whoever that is.

If the last game V Cronulla wasn't a big enough key indicator .....we need forwards and a few of them

Yep and ideally they would have some aggression in them, we have a few honest workhorses, we need mongrel.

@happy_tiger We did have Aloiai out and he makes a difference. Then we have Packer and Matulino as well. I agree that we were belted in that game but injuries played there part there.

Ryan Matterson could be headed for the exit door in the off-season as the Wests Tigers try to resolve a frosty relationship between the star forward and coach Michael Maguire.

NRL.com can reveal club officials, including Maguire, recently met with Matterson and his manager to discuss his future at the club.

The meeting came after the Tigers learned a number of rival NRL clubs had received expressions of interest for Matterson's services, despite the 24-year-old still having two more years to run on his deal at the joint venture.

Matterson has arguably been the Tigers' best player this season since joining them from the Sydney Roosters, however there has been lingering tension with the hard-nosed coach for a couple of months.

Maguire is renowned as a strict disciplinarian, and his methods often get the best out of players.

However, Matterson is used to a different style of coaching having played under Trent Robinson at the Roosters.

The Tigers, who on Thursday returned to training up until grand final week, have every intention of Matterson seeing out his deal, however the club is bracing itself for the possibility he requests a release in the coming weeks.

Matterson bumps off several Roosters to score

Last year the Tigers showed with the way they handled the Ivan Cleary situation they would only release someone from a contract if they were to benefit, which in the case of Cleary came in the form of a six-figure compensation figure.

Matterson is on a deal worth around $350,000 a season at the Tigers, and is likely to attract offers in excess of $500,000 should the current dilemma result in a request for a release.

Several clubs are monitoring the situation. It is understood the Bulldogs have been sounded out about their potential interest from someone close to Matterson, while the Knights have some money to spend given the departure of Jesse Ramien, and potentially Danny Levi and Herman Ese'ese.

Matterson is also a Parramatta junior, and the club is trying to bolster its stocks in the forwards and could pounce.
