Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

@OzLuke From what I can see it's pretty much across the employment spectrum. A mate of mine is now in the management position I used to be in and is saying similar things; no motivation, not prepared to do the hard yards.

@Yossarian iam not sure about others on the forum, but i am just about over with the way our club is been run. are retention over the last 4-5 years has been woeful to say the least, to let masters to walk and also let matterson pick and chose if he plays when he has a contract for the next two years. why don't we just let them all walk and we just play in the reserve grade comp. the club needs to grow a set and start telling these players who is in charge. we will be lucky to not get the spoon next year IF THINGS KEEP GOING THE WAY THERE GOING. i really thought things would improve when we signed madge, but again all are club gets is heartache, cant see any TOP signings coming, i hope there is a silver lining but things look dire.

This is mid October and clubs are not allowed to sign new players until 1st November at earliest. Hold onto your horses until then. **I am sure that Lomax will be a Wests Tiger** as will Musgrove. The way I see things there will also be at least two more quality signing before the end of the year.

Seriously? What makes you so sure about this Newtown? Lomax is a quality player, we don’t usually win the race for those types of players.

Only a week or so ago The Pom stated on this same thread that Lomax is almost 100% to Wests Tigers.

I think that might be overstating it a little. It was more like they are confident.

that Lomax should be careful as Madge is ( a word I can’t repeat here) and that all our players will soon get sick of the hard training and quit

This is becoming a bit of a cliché. It requires us to believe that the coach is dumb, inflexible and never learns from experience, which is hard to believe.

When the Matterson camp came out with this stuff, the club let it out through the media that when Matterson approached Madge at the back end of the season complaining that he was jaded, he gave time off training. This doesn't fit the narrative and suggests to me that the "Madge the tyrant" line is a myth.

It just goes to show you the type of person Matterson really is doesn’t it...To use a person’s past indiscretions against them just so you can get out of your obligations to them is pretty low act in my book.

Who is this Pommie prop we are talking to

Never heard of him until now and I do occasionally watch ESL games

Like I had heard of many ESL players that have come out in the last 5 years like Hodgson , Tomkins , Bateman , Ryan Hall ,Whitehead , Greenwood , Watkins etc ...but I can't even remember hearing this blokes name

why are players so against training hard? why are the kids these days that play this sport such snowflakes?

Reckon sports science, plus the limping and grimacing old boys around the club might have something to do with it.

Its a different world now. With everything that's known about concussions, clubs are forced to walk on egg shells. You could even include mental health and how prevalent that issue has become over the last 10 years.

Plays for St Helens - 24 yrs old but has played for around 6 seasons. Has always had big wraps on him in SL but last year mad the England side and has gone up another level this year. Very fast, has a good step and hits hard in defence.

Apparently Canterbury are going after both Thompson and Walmsley - the other prop for St Helens. Walmsley is a lot bigger and is 29 yrs old. Doesn't play as many minutes as Thompson but generally breaks the line with every hitup. That is in SL anyway.

Everyone needs to calm down we are not in the bad of a situation team wise, we hv lost fonua, both robbies and masters
Masters will be replaced by lomax
1 Robbie for Walters
2 Robbie for Musgrove
Fonua?
Also regarding the Matto situation if we are to obtain arrow that’s a fantastic result

Our back 5 is not that bad based on paper
1.Mbye ( if in form he’s a great ball player and d organiser
2.jennings (great kicking option due to his height)
3.lomax
4.momo
5.nofo (attacking weapon)
Depth:thommo, talau

Based on 2019 form it’s avg. imo
1.thommo
2.lomax
3.momo
4.mbye
5.nofo
Depth. Talau and Jennings

All in all if Madge can get the best out of his players with the aditions of lomax, Walters, Musgrove and arrow we are in a prime position to make the top 4

Surely you jest - "Jennings (great kicking option due to his height)"

If we did (and who knows) get Lomax, it would not be to play on the wing.

I think if we jagged Lomax it would be on Fullback or Centre 3/4 money. Fact we let Marsters go may be a pointer that something’s cooking on that front.

Absolutely. Lomax will be in the centres with Mbye (which would be a pretty decent centres pairing imo)

Hopefully not Avo.

I'm hoping for a Lomax / Momirovski centre pairing.

What they do with Mbye - I'll leave up to Madge.

@Russell again like I said Russ that was based on paper not his woefull form that was seen this season, Jennings is also taller and stronger then lomax...however this season looked like a blob in d and attack😂😂
