i honestly think re-building around promising juniors is a better way to go than signing 'band-aid' solutions like Milf. Invest in the future because i can't see success in the next 1-2 years. Similar to the way we were building with Benj; Robbie; Fulton; et al in 03/04 and then teddy; moses; brooks et al a few years ago.

We wouldn't have achieved much without Hodgson, Richards,Whatuira,Prince and Payten though.

I think his point was we wouldn't have achieved what we did without the signings we made in 04 and 05. Galea wasn't one of them.

I'm sorry I can't really see how building promising juniors like Tedesco, Moses, Woods etc helped us at all. Farah And Benji are the only real junior stars that have stuck around IMO. And that was a long time ago. Can't expect developing a player is really going to help based on recent history. It's still worth doing, but can't rely on that. Gotta make some astute signings that are ready to go now IMO. A combination of signings and juniors.

Managers have screwed up the whole junior system for clubs like ours. Even if you unearth a good one, they have got them sewn up and are selling them off to the highest bidder or knocking on the door of the strongest clubs to offer them up. Money and greed will kill the game if the NRL don't make changes.

@Telltails Agree to a large extent, although I would say we have to make sure we encourage and 'love' the up and comers enough to want to stay. We need to make sure current lot like Talau stay with us for at least the next 1 if not 2 contract cycles.

i agree, just saying i think the nucleus should come from development. but alas we're talking about the NRL where a contract doesn't mean a lot.

tedesco; moses; benji; Farah etc were players you can build a club around (talent wise). Which recruits would you suggest that are on the open market that the tigers can build around? that can take us to consistent contenders...

I don't think there's much out there to be honest. But then again i haven't been following it closely.

Its like in other sports you see the 6ers building around simmo and embiid; chiefs around mahomes; suns around D.book; the grizz with Ja etc etc. they all have a core nucleus or spine in NRL terms. Maybe its booksie for the tigers i dunno...

@trentrunciman one grand final and a total of three finals in twenty years tells me we can’t just rely on juniors because we have had many over those years we can’t keep saying build for next 2/3 years as a supporter I don’t want to wait any longer

Two very down to earth people, Josh and Ryan. Met them at church once and for people that are considered ‘popular’ social figures they are very humble people. Rare people to come across nowadays. Quality players mixed with good morals and attitudes is what you want at in an a club.

Lol can somebody please fix the chronological ordering of comments back to previous?

My page is showing comments from all throughout different stages this year.

Nice intuition though, Madge 😠

You definitely have to have a mix of locals and imports - with all probability, the imports would be the stars. Didn't Sheens before he went off the loopy scale have the idea of signing 1 marque player every season? Or something like that, the strategy seems about right in terms of spreading out your big contracts and oh having them for 2 years or so before renewal or otherwise. I know it didn't work out in eventuality, but I think that was more through Sheen's other weaknesses coming to the fore.

@Tigerboy as POM said, “he seemed to be”. I thought he was a genuine bloke as we all did. By all reports though, he isn’t.

Nah, yea nah you’re right but it’s a lesson for you obviously in not judging a book... the old saying, personally, I think it’s the circumstance and situation the game’s found itself in that really makes us the big losers - as Fans.
