Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Well if it is Brown then I think it’s a step in the right direction. This side has lacked a tough uncompromising hardhead to strike some fear into opposition for years. The first and most crucial step to winning footy games is winning up front and Nathan Brown will never take a backward step.

@Elderslie_Tiger If you check out the Parra website, they're listing Nathan Brown in the 2020 squad unless I've read it wrong.

Yeah. If it’s Brown and announced after Nov 1 means Parra will pay a portion of his salary if he is “released” to us. Would be a way in which they get Matto and we get a reduced payment for Brown.

Personally I wouldn’t understand why we would go after him, he misses a chunk of the season & isn’t getting younger.

They pay a week off his wages. That's no relief for us. Say he's on 350k, we'll still be paying 340k

Depends how its paid. If agreement was reached he could of received advanced payment/lump sum.

G'day @momo_amp_medo: I absolutely love the south coast of N.S.W. anywhere past the Gong.

Also love being in the :car: , but you are right about it being tiring. I find I gotta stop after about 2 hours and by then I'm looking for a Macca's so I can water the :horse_racing: , and that's not a joke about my wife by the way  :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing: . I really really have to water the horse, but I don't actually have a horse. Well you know what I mean.

If you have a flutter on the Cup tomorrow, I hope you win big :moneybag: :santa: :moneybag: :christmas_tree: :moneybag: .

i honestly think re-building around promising juniors is a better way to go than signing 'band-aid' solutions like Milf. Invest in the future because i can't see success in the next 1-2 years. Similar to the way we were building with Benj; Robbie; Fulton; et al in 03/04 and then teddy; moses; brooks et al a few years ago.

We wouldn't have achieved much without Hodgson, Richards,Whatuira,Prince and Payten though.

You left out Ben Galea...i's OK a lot of people do..

I think his point was we wouldn't have achieved what we did without the signings we made in 04 and 05. Galea wasn't one of them.

Ben Galea was re-signed in 2004..

Memory of an elephant

Can anyone break down what the wtf signing is?
I’m assuming it means West’s Tigers Forum? But what is it that signifies it is a big signing?
Why is it named the WTF signing?

While I don't disagree, I really worry about his longevity in the game. Just too injury prone for me, going off the past couple of seasons.

I am a little underwhelmed by Brown's signing (if indeed it is true). Yes, he is aggressive and was by all reports the 'leader' of the Parra pack last year when on the field, but he does miss a fair few games it would seem.
However, hopefully he is the first of a few new faces for our roster.
Not bad, but not exactly a world beater.

@Spacecub that was me who posted it champion - last Monday to be precise .
I was just sharing what a sponsor of two of our higher profile players shared with me. Not talking out of my rear as you have suggested .
In that same post I mentioned ;
- Matterson situation needed to be sorted by 31/10.
Outcome : He we was given a formal release by the end of that same week
- Matalino likely to be medically retired.
Outcome : was formally approved by NRL at the end of the same week too. You may recall many of us fans thought we would not get that outcome given concerns about a possible pre-existing injury

I am sorry the dominos have not quite fallen regarding the WTF signing . Last week we were linked to several players for the first time (Milford , JWH) . My client is very close to two board members . The board members lips are sealed until the deal is done , which I don’t think is a bad thing. Until then people are going to speculate.

Time will tell about my other two points re Packer proving a point in 2020 and a former sponsor returning

@Needaname If the Brown Rumour is correct the WTF for me has a different meaning than most others would have ...Brown is broken but in saying that would be a signing the club would make !

If rumours are right re: Brown and if he is fit for the majority of the year, I reakon he will be a cult hero for us as we don't have any aggressive game changing players atm. We need a player like this as most of our team are clean/do the job type players.

Noticed on the Offical Squad Announcements that the Panthers list doesn’t include gun young half Matt Burton...? He’s also not listed as unsigned, so I wonder what’s going on there... surely it’s not a typo...?

Thanks for the info

Don’t mind the idea of Brown coming home, as others have said his injuries are a bit of concern but if he can get that right would be a good buy.

I know I’m probably dreaming but if we pick him up and JWH as well then all of a sudden we have a much more intimidating pack.

Brown is a great fit. Next year isn't ours. It's the years following we need to look towards. He would add plenty to keeping us competitive next season. I'd really like Kane Evans as well though. Contracted through next season, but would be worth pursuing imo. Another that wouldn't break the bank.
