Happy for the CEO to get his hands dirty whilst the coach is managing the Kiwis, but surely the coach gets a phone call from Pascoe or calls up Latrell before the deal is struck.

You get so many folks attacking the CEO for not doing enough or being careless, and if he indeed got moving quickly on Latrell and the coach gives it the rubber stamp, then that can only be a good thing.

I would be flabbergasted if any deal is reached, no matter who does the groundwork, until Madge says ok.

Recall also the people who criticised Pascoe for giving Cleary carte blanche with the roster. So can't win either way.

It may be Maguire is across this and allowing Pascoe to run with it until such time he is required to become involved. It sounds to me like an efficient way of dealing with the matter, I'm sure also the Board would be across this approach,

@BigUnit why does Madge need to talk to him ? A simple Skype call with all parties except Madge in a conference room is suffice. God , Madge might only have 3 red flag questions , with little to no need to be in the room for the answers .
IF ANYONE THINKS SIGNING CAPEWELL, BRIMSON Types is the answer , have a look at our history . For every Scott Prince (bargain basement at the time because of bad injury history) , there’s 3 Packer,Blair types . Guys who were not the absolute elite , but next level down .
We need elite signings . This is one of those .

I simply do not believe it's credible that Pascoe would sign someone without talking to Madge. The world doesn't work that way.

No chance a player would be signed without our coach being involved especially a marquee player to boot. Our coach has been vocal about our cap and having it under control and ensuring he has players who want to be apart of what he is building.

re Pascoe it’s not his job to sign players anyway, besides which he is a collaborative person..... 100% if Mitchell joins Madge would have discussed with Mitchell and approve of it for it to happen.

Pascoe and hartigan could do some of the groundwork with his agent, sure. Especially since he's not in the country. Would they sign him before Madge gets back on Monday? Not a chance.
