Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

@avocadoontoast who's defending him?
If you can read I have clearly stated what he did was and is wrong.

I'm merely stating that we shouldn't wish the worst upon him for some mistakes, albeit serious mistakes he has made.

Also as mentioned the highest suicide rate is men and boys between 14 and 40 or thereabouts.

I hope Zane has sorted his demons out and I hope the young woman has addressed her injuries or any ptsd she may have from the abuse.

But the guy isn't Charlie Manson.

Don’t try and weasel your way out of it. Go and re-read what you said. Do better.

@avocadoontoast yeah and what is it exactly u have a problem with?

The part where I said I don't condone it.
Or
The part where I suggest both parties mental health should be considered in this too?

Easy to be the judge, juror and the executioner when you only know what the media reports and overlook the underlying issues.

I'm not wishing the worst upon him, I am just saying he is not someone we should be signing. Our club runs fan days, school visits and meet and greets with fans, he is not someone I would be ok with participating in those sorts of activities. He is not of the character I would be comfortable with my kids interacting with. I would doubt he would be able to get a working with children check to allow him to enter a school.

I also don't care about the circumstances surrounding his actions, he has repeatedly assaulted women

‘women can really add fuel to the fire’
‘Two sides to every story’
‘No one can enrage us like the woman we love’

You need to get it through your head that blokes can not hit women, that’s the end of it. There is no two sides to the story. He terrorised her and beat her and he should never be forgiven or allowed to play again.

Violence against anyone in any form is abhorrent. Unfortunately statistically men are much higher than women to carry this out and a frightening trend is violence against men from women is on the increase.
It doesn't matter who hit who, they need to face full justice. Just because a guy plays football doesn't mean that he can't work other jobs. If he has had the lack of humanity to carry out 4 separate attacks then he has to be held to account.
I would also be saying the same thing if his partner assaulted him 4 times.....you do the crime you pay the consequences.
It is a no for me for this guy to play with our club. I don't want these elements in our club.

@avocadoontoast I clearly stated multiple times hitting women is wrong.

Those comments can go both ways as a woman may think men can add fuel to the fire, etc.
I can only comment from my perspective, as a man.

I didn't mean to come and trigger you overly sensitive white knights crusading for feminist rights.

We're all on the same page regarding domestic violence i just don't like seeing the guy get thrown in the bin like he can't rehabilitate and become a better person and learn the right way to be as a human being.

@cochise he has a criminal record one would assume as he was facing 9 months imprisonment.

So does Packer.

We aren't signing him to do finger paintings with kids. We're signing him to help win a comp.

I’m not campaigning for feminist rights, I’m just saying men shouldn’t hit women. And I’m not triggered, but you should be ashamed of yourself for what you said.

And I don't think we should be signing him due to his history, just like I was not happy with us signing Packer. I will admit my tone has soften slightly having met Packer and interacted with him.

Lots of people have trouble gaining employment due to having a criminal record, sometimes the consequences for your past behaviour stick with you for a very long long time, and do not end just because you have served your punishment. Afterall that is why criminal records are kept.

Lol. "Someone doesn't like my woman-bashing stance. They must be a white knight."

Personally, I can live with signing Tetevano, but trying to justify his 4 assaults because he was goaded by his partner is pretty lame.

Relax guys. He's made a mistake, served his punishment and if he signs with the Tiges, I'll support him. Beating the # out of anyone is wrong but if he has been rehabilitated in the eyes of the law then I'm good. If ur mad about the system, work to change it.

Ashamed is going a little far, don’t you think, avo.

So, no guy could ever be guilty of acting totally in self defence toward a psychotic girlfriend, no man was ever right when he began to accuse his missus of cheating and also ANY guy who may have earned a mozza working hard to have a career as pro Sportsman should then have to forfeit a large portion of their happiness / some of that sweet Aussie $ (yeah right) that may not at all be warranted for compensation - much like a gold digger where the action was deliberate and very much frowned upon in the moral ordering - because u feel that a man can never be PHYSICALLY demonstrative in an argument, because you think the end of a court trial in which he is not guilty justifies the means of a money grab or even a legitimate attempt to ruin his life? Even if someone who really scared you or did not get along with your family did a similarly terrible thing to one of your younger siblings... It’s not the same.

Because “that isn’t what my parents taught me”, well it isn’t 1960 anymore (you know it was still very much a thing even then, being able to engage in sexual intercourse just for having a marriage certificate, not always physical, etc.) and with media these days us lot tend to find out much more of the relevant info to pass judgement in such circumstances.

If that were you and your family up there trying to stand alongside Zane (as a brother) then can assure you ya wouldn’t be hopping on here juiced up off social injustice and advocating for the end of the man’s career. It’s not very empathetic and suggests you have little to no experience with the facts/police reports/judgement or jury biases when dealing with a situation like so. It’s definitely not ‘Black n White’ and what u r doing is more devils advocate in saying a man should be ashamed for being informed and valuing his own sane position on matters like this (Demps) than white-knighting, and standing up for the woman... unless you’re about to tell me you know the couple personally and have been involved in the two sides’ copious amounts of heated altercations, which neither seem to be learning anything from - another of Demp’s points.

As said it is definitely a double-edged sword... we men have been known to use our arms motioning various things throughout a night on the town or just generally over the course of history and perhaps even intimidate opposite sex by accident . Whether you know that person or not - NOBODY, and I mean nobody is defending a convicted, serial abuser and belittler of women - I guarantee they wouldn’t be seeking the end of your employment or to sully your name like some have.

I believe I am on your side of the fence regarding whether he signs or not, so you’ll hopefully take this with goodwill.

@TJ21 more than likely we will end up with the two Zane's .. Musgrove and Tetevano .. Lomax will more than likely stay with the Dragoons .. Latrell will more than likelystay wiff da Rorters, but if he does move, the Townsville Cows is a more enticing location, than the Burbs of Western Sydney .. Penriff is firming as a destination for JWH to replace RCG .. the Jia Arrow and AJ Brimson moves have gone cold on all radars, so don't know wots happening there .. ??

He pleaded guilty, was charged, suspended sentence. And no, there is no excuse for a man to hit a woman. With the exception of your last paragraph I pretty much disagree with everything you wrote.

Doing it once could be *rationalised as a mistake. He did it not twice, not thrice but four times.

It's a poor advertisement for the club when they want to engage more with women. "Come buy our pink jerseys, come to our games and throw your support behind a guy who has been done four times for beating his partner."

*N.B. I don't endorse or condone DV. I am making the argument that a serious mistake is something you make once, not repeatedly, this doesn't extend to DV. I wouldn't take him on if he only did it once.

Once again, we dont need to sign someone who has bad vibes and a bad culture about him, i dont care if how good he is, we dont need him
