By my reckoning we have 3 spots open for 2020 with somewhere between $1.0-1.1m left in our cap, assuming no movement of our existing high $ low performing players
2021 we have 14 spots open with ~$3.5m, which isn't that much when you consider the 16 players contracted through 2021 are on a combined $6.4m
Even if you assume we end up with 4 on the $115k minimum in 2021 that leaves just a touch over $3m for 10 players


We have 3 spots, but only 2 need to be filled before by round 1. We’re going to sign somebody, come hell or high water. Even if I have to impersonate Pascoe and steal his chequebook. I’m pretty unkempt at times, so it’s not really a stretch for me.

If we don't sign anyone of high calibre .. i think those two spots will be taken by Brad Abbey and Waits Setu .. leaving us with one spot to fill with a bucket load of $$.

Unless we’re paying those 2 500k each, I doubt it. We need to speed the minimum cap amount.


If worst comes to worst, can’t we just frontload Mbye, Packer and Reynolds (depending on what happens with his case) and go super hard in 2021

But the question remains - if we couldn’t sign anyone now with over $1m to spend, why will we next year? I think it will be more of the same.

JAC, Latrell and Frizzell

Not saying this will happen, but if we were to front load those contracts we would be able to bring these players in for 2021

JAC would need to be the first domino to fall imo for us to have success in attracting players and the rest is a possibility as it seems Addo-Carr has an interest in joining us


Just curious what the fascination with Frizell is . He’s a gun to be sure , but he would command huge dollars , which in itself is fine but he’s gonna want 4 years and he’s 29.
I’m not poo pooing it , just feels like it falls into the same category as the Cleary signings.

Yeah, I'd be wary of a long term commitment.

They won't all be superstars, but look how influential Gareth was for our team. We just don't seem that appealing to established NRL players and we won't until we consistently make the 8.

My gut feeling is we won't get LM and he will end up at Souths as they WILL find a club to take a player or 2 off them... Big clubs always do

I see us getting JAC but we will have to pay overs to get him though.. I have no problems paying overs for a quality player as we need to start somewhere. No use having all this money and just promoting development players to make the 29 players we need to start of season. I deep down hope we have a few tricks up our sleeve and surprise us fans with some good news from somewhere

Why is everyone in here so fatalistic? No one has beaten us to the punch because no one has signed him yet. Madge is in the UK right now, he may be doing business as we speak. He's a premiership winner, let's have a bit of confidence in the man. What odds were Souths at the start of 2014?

We have fair justification to be be fatalistic.

J Klopp said when he first came to Liverpool that he had to “turn doubters to believers”.

Helluva lot tougher for Madge as he does not the influence or charisma of Klopp, nor does he have the players under him to imbue us with any confidence whatsoever.
Sadly, fatalism and doubt is deeply engrained in collective psyche of generations of supporters.
But we would turn into believers very quickly if we had any reason to.
We want to!!!

If there is remotely any truth here we should be lucky we don’t have the Titans management. Imagine making a “best” offer to Arrow (a QLD Rep player) of $1.8m over 3 years while signing a unproven young gun on a deal worth $2m over 3 years. Then being “devastated” to lose Arrow.
