Ellis gets a lot of of praise, but everyone forgets about Mark Flanagan. He was damn good.

I remember that Balmain in the late 80's/early 90's broght a centre from UK to partner Brasher. He was a great goal kicker and centre and propelled the team into the top of the semifinals . It wasn't Schofield who was a very good centre as well.
Ellery Hanley in 1988 (Played for Western Suburbs in 89) and Andy Courier in 89 and 90. Hanley also returned in 96 and 97!
Courier is the player you are talking about though!

Is this the game where big Bruce McGuire scores the match winner to take it from 14 - 10 to a 20 - 10 victory

I think Schofield and Hanley made an impression at Balmain and Wests

They could have all stayed and taken the money offered, but as we have seen with other players money is not enough to lure/keep players who want more from the game. The club needed to change what was happening off the field, and we are suffering still for that, far more than any decisions Teddy Woods or Moses made in regard to what they believed was best for them at the time.

Have to say the ruck and general play was so much faster than today.
Refs knew when to blow the whistle and where to stick their noses in back then.
