Doueihi would have had some of his current year contract already covered by South's would he not have? Surely that would get taken into consideration by WT for signing him...

Latrell M was paid $117k by the Roosters so far this year for his contract according to reports. That's a decent amount of the annual sum - could be 20-30%

Good point, Nov, Dec, and part of Jan paid, thats maybe 25%...

Edit: So if he is on $500k, $125 is already paid. $375 would be alright and thats with Souths paying no more.

Then you free up cap space for South's to go chasing JAC, smart move.

I'd be wanting them to cover more again, and for 2021.

Quote: Myself and Beardigger just had a quick chat with Nick Pappas ,what a gentleman we asked about Dehoui and without saying too much we get the impression both Dehou and Johnston are gone.
He also said Titans were being silly about releasing Arrow

From CCBunny off the Warren.

FWIW

wouldn't say no to both. would give us a competitive and speedy backline.

So do you think we would be the only club interested in signing A D....We have to do everything to strengthen our roster and not worry about other clubs rosters

There also has to be some objectivity about where the club is at presently and where it has come from.
Blind Freddy knows that to be successful on the field you need to be financially sound off it. You can’t have one without the other. So to be so dismissive of those improvements as if they are insignificant, stinks of someone with a cross to bare rather than someone who wants to discuss things rationally. Blanket blaming is a cop out and identifies nothing - “the club” we have at the moment is nothing like “the club” it was 5 years ago and nor are the people making the decisions.

I don't have a cross to bear at all. Why would I? I'm a supporter of the club and I want us to be successful. It's something i've invested significant time and money in throughout my life. However, i'm also going to call it as I see it and until we start to see some success on the field I won't be satisfied.

I agree with you completely!

We could be the best financial club in the competition and that doesn't mean anything until it translates to result on the field.

For too long have we said things will be better next year and its not, now here we are in January and we already have people saying we are building for next year, or we are signing up all the best juniors and we have to be patient. I was patient when we had the last crop of "best juniors" coming through and that got us nowhere, even when we had them a couple of years into their careers we still missed the finals. I was here when people, including myself, were saying the independent board would deliver results, it didn't.

I am just as excited as anyone about the juniors we have attracted, but I am ready for us to see improvements on the field now, not in 1-2 years time. I will still be here no matter what, I'll be in my seats at all grounds and travel to Tamworth no matter what. For those saying to be patient and having a go at people who want improvements now, we are allowed to be sceptical because for the last 9 years all this club has shown is failure.

I think we all feel that way. I think you'd be hard pressed finding anyone on this forum who isn't sick of waiting to be competitive again. Just because people have a different outlook and are prepared to be positive about some aspects of the club, it does not preclude them from being critical, or sceptical, about others.

Until we get the training facilities and corporate facilities , where we can transcend the pretty obvious optics of being a second class club , we are going to find it difficult.
It’s a perception thing. All we can do is build the platform we currently are, where we have strong juniors , a competitive team , and make awesome financial strides off the field . It’s crazy how a missed conversion kick and a dodgy call , for Brisbane at the start of last year , are the difference between the feeling of we suck and we are moving on up.
And really we are talking about playing 1 more game of footy. Kind of weird how close as tigers fans we come to actual success .

A lot of that is just making excuses though, many other clubs have similar issues and are able to find a way through it. I and a lot of others want to see us moving forward, 9th is not enough anymore. To be moving into 2020 with an arguably worst top 30 than last year is unforgivable in my opinion, especially in the way we downgraded our roster while our actions improved the roster of others.

I am still stunned Doueihi is on 500K. There is NO way Souths are cap compliant if he's on something that insane when they have Gagai, AJ, Walker, Reynolds etc etc etc

Also forgot they brought back Bryson Goodwin. Just collecting backs...

Who said Douehi is on 500 k

Article posted a few pages back. True or not, I don't know, but that's where that came from.

OK ..yeah I highly doubt anyone would be paying 500 k for a fringe player ....well maybe us ...but not a real club

Give it a rest. Why do you bother to support the club?

Because I have a heavy investment ....43 years .....1st year since the WT's I didn't re join as a member

Its about time this club repaid ALL of us for our investments

And lastly it's simple ...don't like my posts , put me on foe or don't read them , no one stuck a gun to your head

Will do. I've been following magpies since 1965 and WT since inception, I too have a big emotional investment in the club. Anyhow I haven't made foes before on forums but I think I'll have to here. Cheers.

Funny how some think they have some God given right to tell others how to support their club

... then support it

I am ...my way

We are going to be in a worse position than we were last season

You want to sit back and accept it fine .......that's not my way

I don't think as fans people realize that the acceptance of this club's crap is half of this club's problem

They know no matter how much they screw things up ...people will keep coming back ......record memberships based on the signing of Luciano Leilua

I'm sure not part of the problem ...look in your own backyard before you piss in mine

Someone needs a snickers...?

I said that last week concerning LM, but really, the players already know whether they want to come to us. It doesnt matter what other club is available, they will come to us or not. We could sign Douehi, and still have cash for JAC.

I think go for both Douehi and JAC, and if we dont get Douehi look at AJ and if we don't get JAC then look at BJ Leulia or AJ.

Yeah you are right, I guess its more that I didn't like the inference that I should take my support elsewhere because I have been critical. I would never tell someone to take their support elsewhere or question their support, unless they were one of the few here that agitate for the break up of the Wests Tigers.

I feel like there's zero downside to Doueihi? Doesnt work out at fullback, We would have a 5/8 for Benji. Worst case scenario we finally get some size on the wings.

The potential downside to Doueihi is that potentially we have another player on the roster who is a utility, pretty good at many but not elite at any a la Mbye, Thompson & MCK. If we end up with three utilities we are entrenching mediocrity.

That said, the kid is young and at least tall and may still grow into a position.
