There also has to be some objectivity about where the club is at presently and where it has come from.
Blind Freddy knows that to be successful on the field you need to be financially sound off it. You can’t have one without the other. So to be so dismissive of those improvements as if they are insignificant, stinks of someone with a cross to bare rather than someone who wants to discuss things rationally. Blanket blaming is a cop out and identifies nothing - “the club” we have at the moment is nothing like “the club” it was 5 years ago and nor are the people making the decisions.

I don't have a cross to bear at all. Why would I? I'm a supporter of the club and I want us to be successful. It's something i've invested significant time and money in throughout my life. However, i'm also going to call it as I see it and until we start to see some success on the field I won't be satisfied.

I agree with you completely!

We could be the best financial club in the competition and that doesn't mean anything until it translates to result on the field.

For too long have we said things will be better next year and its not, now here we are in January and we already have people saying we are building for next year, or we are signing up all the best juniors and we have to be patient. I was patient when we had the last crop of "best juniors" coming through and that got us nowhere, even when we had them a couple of years into their careers we still missed the finals. I was here when people, including myself, were saying the independent board would deliver results, it didn't.

I am just as excited as anyone about the juniors we have attracted, but I am ready for us to see improvements on the field now, not in 1-2 years time. I will still be here no matter what, I'll be in my seats at all grounds and travel to Tamworth no matter what. For those saying to be patient and having a go at people who want improvements now, we are allowed to be sceptical because for the last 9 years all this club has shown is failure.

Great post! Critical appraisal is not negativity. Impatience after so many years of failure and more than occasional embarrassment is warranted.
I love the tigers, will be at most games as usual but I am absolutely and totally sick of excuses and ‘next year’ mentality. In fact the club is in agreement - they have said many times that missing the top 8 is unacceptable.
Pascoe alluded to signing speed - let’s see it!

If Pascoe keeps trying to play hardball and we miss out on Douehi for the sake of $100k it will be a bad move for the club. He’s an excellent player that hasn’t yet reached his prime. He will increase our chances of making the 8 in 2020. No point going into March with $1m in the bank.

You'd be getting him for under 400k for 2020 as Souths have already paid him 3 months. Assuming the 500k figure is accurate.

Let him train with Souths till March then sign him..will only cost us $330k for 2020....

I think we are missing a few things here...at one point it was reported we had 1.4 to 1.7 mill to spend when chasing Latrell...now it's just northward of 600K according to the SMH article and signed Musgrove...

Something doesn't add up ..where did the money go...unless they have no clue or we never had that much space to begin with..or there are more than a few getting overs..which apparently we don't do anymore

Signed
Confused..

Maybe have that money sidelined for someone coming.
A deal on the table.

You’re talking as though they need to let him go. They probably don’t. We’re not doing them a favour taking Doueihi.

You’re right but maybe Doueihi needs to be realistic as well. Either he stays at Souths playing backup and collect $500k for two years stalling his development in the process or he accepts a reduced deal to join the Tigers.

Why should the Tigers be the ones that are wearing everything, by all reports Souths don’t “need” to move him on and would be happy to see him bide his time as backup so maybe it’s Doueihi that needs to give a bit as well.

He wouldn’t be reducing it he would be negotiating a new contract and if it were for three seasons that worked out at say $400k per year then no problems with that at all for the NRL.
