3.Momo
4.BJ
5.Nofo

With Mbye at 9 and thommo off the bench

Id be tempted to have Thommo in place of Jennings, or Talau

Love thommo just think Jennings is in for a big year

It’s really something that’s missing in our teams ..... lack of a players with mongrel and anger and showing genuine pain at being beaten. Too many nice guys players too afraid to express themselves and dominate on the paddock.
Yes BJ has some problems in his game but mate, he brings what we need in spades. We thought that Packer ant Matulino would bring that aspect to our forwards but unfortunately I have not seen that eventuate.
So from me it’s a big yes .... and hopefully if Packer doesn’t get his old game to the table then our forwards need a (BJ) similar wrecking

Musgrove will be our resident nut job/ enforcer ...

I think you are right and a rejuvenated Packer could join him. IMO at least for the first half of 2018 Packer was hooking in was intimidating. Was;nt churning out Woods type metres but oppositions were looking for him.

Not fussed on Adam Doueihi I'd prefer to leave Thompson at fullback for now

WT should be doing everything they can to bring in guys like BJ Leilua and Addo Carr for 2020 and look for a marquee fullback 2021 imo

I spoke to J Rey today and he’s mega impressed with Musgrove .
He said his size , strength, aggression .. just wow !
They were his words !

I’m hoping Packer returns to form as well !
Oh and a big yes for a BJ lol

I’ll tell you another thing about Madge. There’s not another coach in the nrl could have got us to within a whisker of playing finals footy.
To those who think we can’t win the gf in 2020, did you also have that opinion in January 2005?

Agree 100%

A champion team can beat a team of champions especially if they are fitter than them and I’m sure another off season under Madge and Mr Palmer along with a new back room team will have us primed for a good year. Luck has a part to play also as we remember the Storm lost 40-0 without Smith in the GF

2005 had a golden crop coming through.

A ball playing Origin class FB.

A great, big, winger in Richards.

A top class GK.

One of the best halves pairings of the decade.

If you can see all that being possible in our 2020 backline, then I'd suggest you rush down to the TAB.

LOL, don’t need more fertiliser for the garden Ellery ?
Well.? Did you think they could do it in 2005?
Gotta admit I honestly thought they were the snowball in hell personified, that is until , I think it was round 15 against the Broncos. Broncos had racked up a decent score but late in the second half the Tigers played like they hadn’t played all season.
I’m just saying it’s far too early to write them off before the first ball is kicked.

2005 we also had a Kangaroo class young 9 coming through. 2020 we have....no 9.

Not being negative, I just hope people's expectations are realistic and we do not get a dozen 'sack Madge' threads a week.

IMO , with a few injuries in the backs, we could finish bottom 2.

But it will not be the fault of the current coach.

I’m just saying.. in January 2005 truth is none of us could have expected the year to end the way it did. The whole story reminded me of an American football movie called “The Replacements.” The only thing missing was the smoke hanging out the side of Pat’s mouth.
The 2005 grand final victory is spoken about in the inner west in legendary terms. Not because the Tigers had the best team but because they didn’t. But each player knew their job.

Everyone knew their jobs but we had the most exciting footballer possibly ever, with an incredible ability to create something out of nothing. We had marquee talent. People doing their job + marquee talent = success.

Who was the marquee talent that we bought in 2004?

What does it matter when they were bought, developed or shipped in? We had marquee talent and we won a comp. we won’t win another without it. Maybe Talau will do what Benji did - who knows? But at present we have money but can’t attract marquee talent so ‘come on Talau‘

My point is the only club that has success buying marquee players is the Roosters and that's because they can somehow buy them by the dozen. Ben Hunt, Shaun Johnston, Jack Bird, Anthony Milford, the list of high priced failures goes on. Melbourne don't buy marquee players and they are the benchmark as far as football management is concerned. The Tigers will never be able to buy a premiership. We have to build one.

Having a good think - I am prepared to change my opinion after watching the video of BJ.

He is a nut case - I would hope that Madge can knock that out of him, because otherwise it would negate all the good he could do.

So, AD and BJ would be good at the right price, BJ for 2 years imo - save one spot for later, either our Parrahaas or JAC.

Even part of that happens we would be doing ok.

Im sold. 1:45 he actually has more toe than I thought.

There has never been any doubt in my mind about his ability, his attitude at times is a concern as he gives away many dumb penalties.Perhaps playing alongside his brother and under Madges guidance he could improve his control on the field. We need a man of his ability and i feel he would be worth the risk as he can certainly play.
To be honest i feel he would be more value to us than LM would have been as he is a "full on" player where LM is a far better player in patches but you dont seem to get them as often

BJ and Luce could fast become cult heroes at WT, imagine one firing up and the other also coming in as backup...
Does BJ and Luce play on the same side of the ruck, were they to be in the same team?

all this talk about nut jobs & Bj's... jeez grow up people

Gee I think I’ve stoped growing quite a while back my friend.
Back on subject .... why do you reckon our forwards get continually dominated? It’s not fitness, it’s not application or game plan or coaching. It’s lack of that one missing ingredient.
Not a nut job player but one that has that winning attitude.
My avatar brings that person to mind.

I can see many people on here still giving it to the club for not having a major signing yet....I tend to sit back and wait until something positive is released by the club, when that is,I don't know...
From seeing what is going on atm,I honestly believe that Madge and co don't want to make the same mistakes like in the past;I also believe that with so many young guys in the system atm,Madge seems to want to create from within..I remember when we had some great young players when Sheens was here and he got that legend Gareth Ellis to the club, that was great...maybe Madge is working on the same formula as it seems to work for us...just my opinion though...

The biggest mistake is to do nothing, even a poor mistake is an attempt to fix the problem we have. But saying this, we just need to limit our exposure, spending $500k to attempt to fix a significant hole is in my view, worth it.

Doing nothing fixes nothing

I can see what your saying Lidcombe, however, how many holes did we try and fix before to no avail...Ballin,Reynolds come to mind..they did something and fixed nothing...
Im saying that Madge and co are being significantly more wary with the money they have to get the right player at the right price ...they are doing something but are more careful than in the past so it seems..

Sure fire way to not fix it though is to do nothing.

You don't do damage to your cap and immediate signing prospects by "doing something" like signing 2 or 3 players at overs for long terms e.g. Reynolds, Mbye, Jennings etc.

Conversely unless we do something we won’t be competitive in 2020. Backline is atrocious. Need to roll the dice and not be scared of mistakes of the past. No point sitting back watching the comp just pass us by.

Doesn't matter what we do for 2020 we "ain't" going to win the comp.

However, if we don't do anything stupid, (buy people we need, not that we can fill a gap with) we can put ourselves in a good position to buy those players, promote those players and give the whole dam comp a shake for 2021 onwards.

There are very few players you would really want to grab on the market at the moment ( one may come on the market) - however there are a lot of players coming off contract at the end of this year. Yes there will be more clubs looking that have money but I doubt they will have as much as us.

I would hardly say our backline is atrocious, not the greatest but with our improved forward pack we can easily make the finals this year. Yes, that is my opinion Avo

Is there a potential issue with his neck? I seem to recall he needed some treatment on it.

Benji/LL/BJ/Nof on one side
Brooks/Garner/Talau/Jennings
AD at the back
forward pack shaping up very nicely
WOWOWOW

Wasn't there a time during 2019 season that BJ supposedly had a very long term issue with his neck, potentially career threatening? Has that now past him?

No pace on the wings. We need more signings = wingers with real pace.
