If you don’t put a name next to the numbers it makes for good reading too. Surprises a lot of people.

You could justify 50k more at a stretch.
Not a chance you take either on back ended inflated contracts. If we are talking 600k + walk away now.
I like both but the club has to be sensible and not get desperate. It’s how we ended up with Reynolds, Mbye, Packer on big money.
450k for BJ? Lol. I mean yeah if you could. But you can’t. His metric value is closer to 700k. So yeah 450k won’t happen BUT how good is blind impressions of ones worth
Raiders signed Curtis Scott on a 4 year deal at 400k p.a. He’s 22 and a better centre ask Ricky.
The Rabbits just signed Latrell on 700k.
I’m glad your not managing the salary cap as that’s a mighty expensive BJ. The Metric Value of A BJ depends on the technique.
He’s a good player, I rate him but at those dollars it would be as bad as Reynolds. You don’t pay that sort of money for a centre known for inconsistent play. It would undo all the work Madge has undertaken for short term gain. When we lose a young player that comes through we will regret the expensive BJ.
His metric value has nothing to do with what he will or won’t be paid, it’s used as a guide to avoid bad contracts And find good contracts. MOST** clubs these days have full time employees dedicated to it. The rest hire a third party (Like me) to Accumulate the data for them and liased with their recruitment department about their current contracted players values, their up coming contracts and extensions and off contract players for the next 2 seasons At other clubs.

Good points, and you are probably right. Scott was a steal at that price (if at that price) (Edit), especially replacing BJ who was on more.
But come on, I doubt any one else on this planet believes Latrell is only getting $700k to play with Souths. I wouldn't use him as your example.

Seems that’s where it all starts. At the valuation process. Appears to me a club can sink or swim on the accuracy of those vals and the recruiters ability to recognise any bias for what it is?

Do player agents have access to use during negotiations.

Not via myself, can’t speak for everyone who does it. Clubs tend to keep the info close to their chests.
Biggest surprise? As in under value or over value?

Madge talking about recruitment approach
“We need to be clear about not making the same mistakes this club’s made in the past,” Maguire said.
“We’re in the process of making major changes but we need to be smart about how we make those changes.
“The position our salary cap is in at the moment, we need to get players’ values spot on.
“We want to give players the best opportunity to build something here at Wests Tigers that hasn’t been here at the club for some time.
“We’ve got a great young squad, now we just need to be patient about making the right decisions around who we bring into the club next.
“We won’t be just spending money for the sake of spending it.
“I’d rather take my time and focus on building the club from the ground up. We’ll be diligent about making the right decisions.”
And if we sign Josh Hoffmann , he looks like a total idiot (and yes I left a word out )
What do you have against Canterbury Cup signings. ?
Because it is an attempt to cover over the fact no one worth two bob wants to play NRL here
Play it out whatever way you like ...and the comments by Maguire back that up
People seem to think we have had two months to sign players for 2020 ....we've had since November 2018 and the best we have come up with is Leilua
If people aren't questioning where the club is at right now ...they never will
@Geo said in [Signing Suggestions & Rumours](/post/1104149) said:I wonder why Souff's bothered with Latrell then...seems odd when they already had Douiehi locked up..
Wayne and his promises..
@wokesmoke said in [Signing Suggestions & Rumours](/post/1104240) said:The highest paid tiger on the books for 2020 is Josh Reynolds he currently takes up roughly 7% of the cap. That is horrendous. Luckily for tigers they have brooks on a lower end contract for halves in NRL (500k) which equals about 4.5% and Benji which is about 2.5% generally MOST nrl clubs would have close to 25% of the cap Tied up in the “spine” even with a bad contract
On their hands with a player who probably won’t play a game this year tigers spine only soak up 18% of the cap. So adding douehi who could conceivably play 2 positions in the spine for 500k taking up about another 4.5% of the cap, isn’t terrible given the situation.

Well if you **believe media numbers tigers hold 3 of the worst contracts ever (mbye,Reynolds,Packer) other clubs in recent times parker for manly is a undervalued player who rates highly Dylan Edwards is Hugh as a fullback as well If your going back a few years jordan rapana was always one who always out performed his value. Curtis rona another one. Actually If you didn’t have a name next to their numbers in 2015/16 you would of ranked them in the top 4 wingers in the game.

I sometimes wonder how the NRL could allow what Ivan did to us. The ethics of it are very smelly.
He destroyed our medium term potential for success by committing us to three of the worst long-term deals ever, and then left á year after making the deals to coach a rival club.
I'm not one for conspiracy theories but it was almost as if he was a Panthers' agent working from within to sabotage our club.

I don't place any value on those metrics at all. Reynolds is a bad contract only because of injury. Who could have predicted that? He was a SOO player not long before he was signed. As for top 4 wingers, rating them above Valentine Holmes, Semi Radrada, Josh Mansour, Brett Morris, Corey Oates etc., etc., please...
