If the figures are accurate, I'm not a fan of BJ for $1.8m over 3. Too much $ and for too long

Won’t be costing the tigers 1.8

How many TRIES an Try Assists and tackle breaks has Doueihi had playing fullback in a gun team..?

Do you think Thompson is a better fullback than Doueihi?

huh...I was asking about Doueihi....If he signs He'll be playing for us with our plodders not Souff's..

Thompson breaks a lot of tackles ..just wondering what Doueihi output has been..

I was just asking your opinion as to who you'd prefer at 1

Cameron Munster

Is he available thow?

Isn't everybody..?

With Canberra kicking in, looks more like a cost of $1.4m to the tigers over 3 years

Did we suddenly change our MO? Or does this show how highly we rated Mitchell?
I’m thinking we learned from the Mitchell business and moved forward strategically. Good to see. imo.

Did we really change our MO though? We rated Mitchell, we were prepared to pay what we thought he was worth. When it was clear he wasn't interested we pulled our offer and it was all she wrote. The club has shown they are not going to stuff around with players who are just kicking tyres.

IMO AD and BJ is a much better outcome than Mitchell (whom I think would have been a great signing personally,) as it is much better for depth and addresses a couple of positions rather than a high value purchase to cover one position.

So were we telling all who would listen “we will not pay overs” before or after the Mitchell negotiations?

This is probably why the LM deal fell over stick to your guns WT's no more whipping post.

Can't remember to be honest. I remember us saying we'll have a dip at him, we'd like to have him. I don't recall us saying that we'll throw the kitchen sink at him or we'll not be dragged into a bidding war.

I think the minute the club realised that LM was probably just kicking tyres or using us to drive up his price we withdrew. We could have openly chased him from there but we didn't. It appears to be that we didn't even covertly chase him either, so if we really desperately wanted him we'd have upped offers etc. We didn't.

Is there a general pay scale any where what values are placed on positions players play values seem to have blown out alarmingly in recent times probably because of the scum bag managers

If the figures are right the Tigers pay 1.4 over 3 years - average of 450k per year which is a bargain for JL. The Douehi breakdown is similar over 2 years - 950k over 2 years which averages 475k per year which i would think is ok. The sticking point - which there seesm to be a few - we don't want to let souths off the hook for backending his contract and then moving him on, he wants 4 years and probably at an increase on his 600k he is reported to be on in 2021. We would probably want 2 years and an option on a further 1 or 2 years. All guesswork on my part as i'm not privvy to the inner workings.

Crawly pulling numbers out his butt (no swearing coverup willow) again.

He also makes a lot of editorial commentary for a reporter.

"Tigers can ill-afford"
"Tigers are trying to sell it publicly"
"given some of the dud deals they have done in recent years"

The thing I intensely dislike about the idea of "dud deals" is many teams have done dud deals over the years, it's not restricted to Tigers.

And Tigers have a few blokes on the books who may have had an entirely different role / output had the coach stayed; i.e. it's the coach's movement that impacts many careers. This would be true of many clubs who move the coach on.

There are a few journos right now running the critical line that "Tigers need to sign someone before the season starts", whilst also acknowledging that the rush to sign players may have been a factor for the last coach.

Tigers don't actually have to do anything at all and I'm pleased that they aren't reacting to the media, that's one thing I like about Madge - you can write what you like, but Madge is his own man on his own schedule.

Finally - if you had said in October that our pre-season would be a swap BJ in and Esan out, I would have been cool with that. Latrell wasn't even on the radar at the time, and BJ is a much more cost-effective option in centres - you can sign BJ and another NRL-level player for Latrell's wage alone.

Trying to be reasonable in this assessment, I think Corey has 3 issues at fullback.

No real passing game
One basic error in most games
The odd game that is a shocker

I think you can live with one of these issues and do well, but not all three.

I think passing is the only upgrade with AD

When I read those DT articles posted on the forum, all I hear is a Souths mouthpiece. Douiehi is great, Tigers shouldn't play hardball too much lest Doueihi go elsewhere, Souths are not under cap pressure.

In fact Souths are denying so often that they need to move Douiehi on... the lady doth protest too much, methinks.

Douiehi is not a game breaker, he is a development opportunity, and Souths have him on big money. Tigers should not feel any pressure at all to take that pressure on ourselves; let Souths sweat.

Compare this to BJ, Raiders look very willing and, dare I say, transparent to move him on, if they are indeed offering up more than half his last year salary in a bit to get the move done within a week of the player meeting.

Good.

The club has copped a hiding over signing players for overs, and now they're copping the toe again for not wanting to pay overs.

No more wage thieves.

Read that. Article is from Paul Crawley he is mates with Wayne Bennett and does write positively about Madge. I’d say he knows the story closely.

Tigers can’t overpay for Douehi he’s a centre or 5/8. Not superior to even Corey Thompson at fullback. We need players but a high priced utility I’d leave with Souths unless the price comes down.

Lol. Hes way better than Corey.
Are you having a laugh?

Doueihi better in every single way.

He’s on P plates mate!

I've seen a few 'P' plates on Lamborghini's and Ferrari's.

Especially around Greenacre and Bankstown ?

Doesn’t look faster to me. He’s definitely less elusive. Doesn’t match Thompson for heart and effort (though few could). Doesn’t match him in support play as a consequence.

How can you possible say that .. Thompson stands out in this Tigers side as 70percent of the team are Plodders . Douehi would look great in a Tigers jersey he already looks good in a Souths jumper and the team is hot as ! Thompson has a go that’s for sure but not in the same class as AD ..

Didn’t look so hot against roosters

We all can pull out one game efforts that’s easy...what about Teddys first Game against the Tigers ?

I think passing is the only upgrade with AD

I agree though I think AD has a few upgrades on CT, just that they are not huge upgrades.

I think AD has more of a halves-type skillset for a fullback (passing and kicks), which is ideal, and he's rangy enough to be effective in the air.

Corey is ultimately too short, which is one of his two weaknesses as a FB - Corey is 5'10" and AD is almost 6'3". Short and doesn't have a pass/kick option, like you said, which makes it easier for opposition defences.

AD however is pretty weak in the tackle - Corey has double the tackle breaks and is just more energetic in the tackle IMO. AD has ever slightly better post-contact m and that might be attributed to his bigger overall size. Corey is only giving up 3 kg despite the height difference.
