Ignorant? Wayne Bennett, the master "man manager" told Doueihi he wasnt good enough for Souffs backline. Its a statement of fact. Why do you think it is possible that the Tigers can sign him despite the fact he has more than a year to go on his contract?

Seems obvious that they couldn't get any takers for AJ and Gagai and can't have them playing in CC. Just resigned Walker, they have their long term half in Reynolds and now Latrell. You can't be serious. He would not have made a ""massive"" difference. Did you check out the head to head stats that CB posted on (I think) page P2611 re CT and AD ?

At best AD is a minor upgrade on CT at full back. AD adds a ball playing option and a kicking option. CT is a superior ball runner and defender (based on tackles missed).

If AD wants $600k next year and a four year deal, then I can understand why we have walked away.

Try to keep up. I made the point, the point that you responded to, that BEFORE Doueihi had hurt his ACL (after 15 games) he had only played 1 game at fullback.

In Teddys first NRL game he played fullback and screwed his ACL, and of course for 3 games afterwards he played wing, but after 15 games (same as Doueihi) Teddy had played 12 Games at fullback and 3 on the Wing.
AGAIN FOR THE SLOW LEARNERS...DOUEIHI had only played 1 game at fullback prior to his injury, but Im supposed to put these guys in the same bracket?

That’s about it. Now you aren’t getting connor Watson so do you think LL is worth a punt and what $$ u Want to pay him? Is he better than AD?

Fullback, similar only edwards and aetkins available, both viable options and I’d assume could be pried away with a decent offer.

Do the tigers NEED that position filled for 2020? Probably not.

These are all things that factor in to when a club looks at a player for today and what’s available tomorrow. I never get asked for the numbers on players

At best AD is a minor upgrade on CT at full back. AD adds a ball playing option and a kicking option. CT is a superior ball runner and defender (based on tackles missed).

If AD wants $600k next year and a four year deal, then I can understand why we have walked away.

He’s available to us because they have Latrell at 1 and Walker at 6. I don’t think it’s a reflection of his ability or potential. Souths have a stacked backline. They can’t keep everyone.

He was coming back from an ACL and is 20 years old. Remember when Tedesco played wing for us when he came back from injury? They fit him in the team where they needed him and then he CEMENTED the fullback spot through excellent play.


Played 15 first grade games before doing his ACL. ZERO at 5/8, 1 at Fullback.

This is the guy you want to discuss in the same breath as Tedesco and throw $2.4M at over 4 years?

Read a lot of ranting about AD value and so on, heres the thing, what’s available other than him if he’s a 1 or 6 and what do they cost you?

Fullback, similar only edwards and aetkins available, both viable options and I’d assume could be pried away with a decent offer.

Do the tigers NEED that position filled for 2020? Probably not.

Milford is available end of 2021 as well but by then is he really the player you want? Shaun Johnson? He’s past it. Luke keary? Maybe.

These are all things that factor in to when a club looks at a player for today and what’s available tomorrow. I never get asked for the numbers on players
Off contract for the year of only. It’s always players 1-2-3 years down the track.

Maybe they view Walters as benjis heir apparent. So if they are need to shell 600k for a SPECIALIST fullback I can seE why they won’t budge for AD. He’s simply at this point not worth a 5% cap hit.

I just find it interesting that if Bennett rates a Douehi so much why was he the first player to be shown the door after they signed Mitchell? Douehi has more upside than both Johnston and Gagai, who are heading towards the end of their careers, why wouldn’t they have been tapped on the shoulder first instead?

The answer is because Souths think they are a chance to offload Doueihi, but less chance to offload AJ or Gagai.

By all reports they've been shopping AJ and Gagai for some time with no takers.

My question here is - if Souths are apparently totally happy to keep Doueihi, why don't they do this as insurance against Latrell? The contract durations are perfect - Doueihi with 2 left and Latrell with 1 plus option. Latrell gets hurt or doesn't pan out at FB, move him to centre and Doueihi strolls back into the FB spot.

Answer again, I think, is they've contracted Doueihi for too much, without ever considering they'd get a player like Latrell, and now they've got some $1.2M invested in 2 fullbacks who don't really want to play elsewhere. And you can be your bottom dollar Latrell asks for a mad pay rise next year, when Doueihi is still on the books for high dollar.

Imagine the drama for Souths next year if Latrell goes down and they've sold off Douiehi, have to play Johnston at FB for the rest of the season, or Corey Allan.
