Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Souths backloaded him and want someone to get them off scot-free. That's not representation of value.

If they aren't going to carry an appropriate value in freight they can jog on.

I thought it had been reported long ago that clubs could no longer backload contracts? This just allows clubs to pull this sort of crap and sign players under value and if they show promise, hock them off at an inflated value which clubs will pay if they show promise.

It’s a wonder that the Roosters haven’t made a play for Momo, as Trent Robinson said he didn’t care about loosing Matherson but he didn’t want to lose Momo.
Robertson said that he really rated Momo, and with them loosing Billy Smith, they might be light on for a centre.

Melbourne are short of outside backs, Roosters too and Canberra. Having a young outside back with a ton of potential, NRL experience under disciplined coach makes Momo highly sought after. He'll be in for a big pay rise with a good year in 2020.

Losing Momo will mean the club is back on a downward slide again. Plain stupid.

I’ll admit to not being on the pulse regarding modern training methods but I played a heap of footy and I remember preseason being so important for not only conditioning but in forming and honing combinations. Sign of the times but a bit unnerving that we are still chasing players for key positions this close to the beginning of the season

Looks like douehi is headed to roosters

Yep article about that this morning. Melbourne and Canberra also interested. Doueihi and his family are ‘less than impressed with how the Tigers have baulked at paying the money the Rabbitohs wanted to secure his release’

Oh boo hoo Douehi family. It's not our fault you aren't happy with the situation your sons manager and South's have put him in. We are offering your son an opportunity at a price that reflects where his career is at. Move on WTs.

Exactly

South's screwed him not us

Take your bat n ball to parra

They love players with that attitudes

Richardson and Bennett are hypocrits.

Whoever his manager/PR is, leaking that his family isn't happy with the WTs baulking at his asking price does nothing for him whatsoever and raises the suspicion that with that sort of attitude we might have just dodged a bullet. Good player, badly advised.

He should be unhappy with Souths who are effectively backflipping. It's not the other clubs who should be paying overs for his back-ended deal & Souths should be made to pick up the shortfall.

If they won't and he doesn't want to play CC, then he has 2 choices. Find a club that will or take a hit and prove he is worth the extra. Don't blame clubs for not wanting to pay the additional if they don't think he's worth it.

They can spit dummies all they like, if Souths wouldnt budge and nor would he they shouldnt be blaming us for Souths ridiculous contract. Dont get me wrong i would have liked him he could be a superstar, he could be the one that got away but he might not be also.

But that’s the skill set of an accomplished recruiter is it not? To be able to determine whether he’s a future star or overrated. Sure there’s going to be an element of gamble but the good recruiters would see something and say ‘he’s worth paying a little bit more for.’ Just a thought

I get the feeling the Tigers recruitment team have decided he's a player who is likely to be worth about $450k a year - ie a good first grader, probably with some additional value as he can cover multiple positions. The club seemed willing to take him on a favourable contract but not on a big one. Maybe they're wrong - time will tell. But if that was their assessment of his talent I'm glad to see they didn't panic and pay more than they think the guy's worth.

I thought that Souths and roosters were sworn enemies.

Harry Grant for Momo - swap deal

To be honest Iam more interested to know why we are rumoured to be shopping a centre than the AD thing. You would have to think there is a fish bigger than AD floating around that we are close to catching. Anyway it will keep the forum ticking for a day or two

The forming of combinations worries me, players who come in late are starting behind the eight ball. Look at Jennings from last year as an example.

To some extent players today are like Plug n Play units especially in the forwards. It's the special guys who play what's it front them that are often the hardest to place, cos their team support aren't sure of their moves. We haven't brought any such special players tho. And unlike say Ponga & Tedesco, Doohicki has never really been brilliant try scorer or Try assist go to guy.

Now that makes a bit of sense..

Grant is good in a position we need...

That's a pretty innovative idea and I don't mind it as long as we get Momirovski back at the end of the year. I wouldn't give him up just to get Grant for 12 months...

My post was about how he represents good value. There is an outside back I'd rather lose before Momo. Momo is a smart footballer who finds the try line. He has scored tries in situations where others wouldn't. Being on I'd speculate a modest contract and with his improved goalkicking he is an attractive acquisition especially those clubs with salary cap issues.
