Douehi to tigers on a 4 year deal appparnetly

what's changed since yesterday when you said your rorters source told you Doueihi was a done deal there?

I’m not in the douehi camp. So I don’t know what flipped him. All I know is he had a meeting with roosters seemed keen to sign there then lastnight/this morning chose tigers. Maybe he had a chat to robbie and twal who knows. But looks like he will be announced today or tomorrow

I understand things can change quickly Woke ...but it seems to happen to every deal you mention

Even some of my sources get things right .....ok the Dylan Napa deal last season went pear shaped

So what's your point?

He's linked to many clubs and gets a lot wrong , but I understand where he is coming from

Sometimes you gotta bite your tongue until it's done

My golden rule is until I've heard it from 3 separate sources I don't put it in writing and don't claim it is said and done

The only thing I heard with any certainty which I mentioned was Arrow not getting released in 2020

I enjoy the Goss and speculation and understand things are fluid, hence why while the info may appear to be wrong - it may have been right at the time.

I enjoy woke's contribution. Lets not crucify the bloke for adding some colour to this place.

Amazing the positivity it just the last few weeks. For the first time in a while I've felt the club is actually playing things smart.

Seriously if we close out Doueihi that will mean that the club has signed Musgrove, LL, Joey Leilua, Doueihi, organised the Grant/Momo swap to solve our short term problem at 9, resigned our best young'uns, signed Stefano.

Can we please put to bed the "no one will come to us", "Our club isnt doing anything"....deathriding of the club? Seriously. I actually think it is hilarious that whilst a large group of fans are here deathriding the club with reports of falling sky, the club has been working hard and well behind the scenes to make these things happen.

I REALLY wanted LM to come but I think it may be a blessing we missed him, I think that what has happened is a better result.

It's a better outcome to LM. And make no mistake I reaaaaaaalllllllly wanted Latrell here. But we've better rounded out the squad. More depth, and while I'm still sceptical about how he will really go at fullback, he is could well go on to be an answer in the halves.

Reckon Grant will play 80? or will he share the role with Mbye? Kinda don’t wanna block Talaus pathway just to avoid looking silly having Mbye playing CC.

If Doueihi is confirmed Madge is slowly but surely righting the Cleary wrongs, i wasnt so optimistic about this season but now i see us as a far better unit than last. Just a few more clangers to get rid of McQueen, Packer, JR & Mbye imagine how strong we could be with their collective salaries to go shopping with.

You never know, Mbye might shine with a decent coach and quality players around him.

Its not his playing ability as much as his price tag, Mbye is so far from a $900 k a season player its not funny. He's more than likely a $450-$500 player Max. $900 k you look at players Like Ponga or players of his ability game changers, Mbye is not that nor is JR.

Only chance we have of storm trading Jennings for a young gun hooker would be if Ivan or Taylor were coaching down there.

Or Bellamy suffers a head knock

Really happy we got AD,this signing shows me that Madge is looking to the future not just in the here and now...AD starting fullback,Benji retires AD to five eight...great foresight shown by Madge and the club..

I reckon it puts us ahead for 2020...Matterson and Marsters to a lesser extent were losses...

Doueihi (pending) BJ Leilua, Luciano Leilua, Musgrove and the extentions of Mikaele, Garner, Twal and Talau with the strengthening of Junior Development with Simpkin, Cini, Hoffman has us looking stronger than 2019..IMO..certainly lightyears ahead of anything that's happened since 2012 really..Grant could be the cherry on top

Looking better to come 2021 with Utoikamanu joining..

You just have to laugh at the no one wants to come rhetoric...

Doueihi and his family wanted the Tigers for a few reasons, but mainly as they see it as the clearest path to a long term position at fullback/five-eight. They were never filthy at the club, that was agent work to get Tigers to front up the money for the entirety of 2021 as it became clear Souths would not.

Souths agreed to subsides some of the 2020 contract. Due to the Roosters involvement, it now also seems Souths are willing to front up some of his salary 2021. They were not willing to front any money for 2020 or 2021 for the Roosters, which meant Tigers could offer a better deal. Tigers also offered a 4 year deal, Roosters a 3 year deal.

Lol thank you Roosters for intervening and breaking the stalemate on negotiations between us and Souths. Thank God they hate each other! If poor Smith hadn’t gone down for the season none of this would’ve probably happened.

https://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2020/01/29/wests-tigers-appoint-ron-griffiths-as-coaching-assistant/

I'm slightly confused , I'm 100% behind us trying to support our indigenous players on and off field , but hiring a assistant coach based on the fact he is indigenous

Maybe I'm too far away , but I've never heard of the bloke before

He was with WT'S last year and has been promoted to a more senior role MADGE would not have employed him just because he's indigenous MADGE is more professional than that!

I think you have missed my point , we could have signed someone to liaise with the indigenous players and the coaching staff

I don't get why he needs to be an assistant coach , a lot more highly credentialed assistant coaches who are indigenous and even have past NRL experience both on and off field

It shouldn't matter what your skin tone is when coaching , if you can't get it right with a player whether he is orange purple green or red you probably shouldn't be in the role ....

A good coach is a good coach .....period

The way it is portrayed is the club almost seems to be reacting to the LM situation or that we have a issue with indigenous players

He's coached previously has apparently impressed MADGE there is no way WT'S have a problem with indigenous players they already have programmes in place and this appointment strengthens there position footballers tend to be more comfortable dealing with football backgrounded people than someone from outside

Put yourself in the players shoes for a sec , are you more likely to listen to the advice from say a Mal Meninga , ArTie Beetson , Thurston , Inglis ,Thaiday Widders ,Peachey , Preston Campbell etc over a bloke who hasn't played a game of NRL

Yeah, Mal's doing an awesome job as Head Of Performance at the Titans....really had 'em firing last season.
And Inglis is probably not the best bloke to take advice from, he's had nearly the whole gammut of indescretions since he first played NRL. Anyone else probably wouldn't of still been in the game after doing everything he did.
