Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

All recruitment ties in with salary cap management.
Can't see big $$$ going anywhere while we have some overpaid non-performers still on our books.

Im not sure why we’d have any interest in Proctor. Would add nothing.

Apparently super league teams want him, they’d offer more money than us so hopefully he goes there.

Only reason I could think Madge would want him is because they possibly worked together at Melbourne and he wants Kevin to help bring a winning culture to the team? Both our second rowers are playing 80 mins at the moment

He’s hopeless. Hasn’t delivered anything at the Titans and our retirement home is already full of plodders like him.

If we sign him it will show nothing’s changed.

Yeah I agree with you, if we want experience there are guys who have played big games that are better quality than proctor. He’s been bad at the titans.

I don’t believe it to be true. He’s the complete opposite of guys we’ve signed/been looking at recently.

It certainly doesn’t fit in with how our recruitment has been going under Madge. Probably his manager trying to get more $

Another report today saying we are keeping an eye on Jack De Belin too. Don’t see him leaving dragons if found innocent though, would be a dog move considering they stood by him through the whole thing.

It concerns me to hear our interest in guys like Debelin and Proctor. It reeks of overpaid/has been signings that we used to be a special for. Hopefully just rumours and nothing more.

De Belin would still go good but I doubt we sign either of them

Proctor is like blair great in the storm system

Yeah, I think he'd definitely be Blair MKII. He hasn't done much for the Titans so I doubt hed offer much to us.

McQueen mk2

We’ve been linked to Kevin Proctor by journalist Peter Badel. Apparently we are interested in him as are a few other clubs including English clubs. He’s 31 years old but has premiership winning experience, personally would pass on him. Hasn’t been doing that well for a while now

Wouldn't take him if he paid us.

looks like warriors are really interested but I would defiantly take him

I just can’t see De Belin leaving dragons after they’ve stuck by him for almost two years during all this. If his charges aren’t dropped on Monday he’ll be in court until the end of the year minimum anyway

We let Matterson go and i am sure Parra are in the ear of Stefano and i expect a backflip to come so why cant we get in Grant's ear, Momo i dont worry so much as we have Tommy "second coming " Talau who everyone seems to rate so he should be able to tske Mmbye's spot if he has to.
We are naive if we dont think that talking to players to backflip doesnt happen... look at Teddy and the Raiders

I gotta say that attitude is poor. Justifying low character decisions because other low characters do it too. There’s a way to do it and a way not to . Enticing a player to backflip whilst you’re conducting a revolutionary loan deal , is definitely not the way. But hey , when it happens to us again I’m sure all you guys will scream bloody murder. The hypocrisy is real.

I'm sure when Grant goes back to Melbourne or another club grab him (because we didn't try to keep him) and he turns out to be a real superstar.

Everyone will be saying "Good on the Tigers, that had principals, haven't got a decent DH but they did what was right by the NRL."

Bad luck the NRL never do the right thing by the Tigers.

Wake up mate - this is war!

Would love to have him, was one of the best locks going around (don't think he would leave either), but his old man did play for the Tigers.

You wake up ! It’s this very attitude why the system is broken. You don’t have to be a piece of crap. You can choose to operate in a way that’s fair yet still aggressive in recruitment and retention. This is what irritates me about rugby league in general “it’s war” LOL.
Hot tip , it’s not war . It’s business. Every other sport can operate in a way that’s respectful , to all the parties .
It’s this backwards , tribal , 1970s type thinking that holds the sport back . Loans should have happened 30 years ago . Trades should be happening . We should be sitting here talking about trade packages for Addo Carr . Or potential landing spots for some of our players. But nope , we talk about sabotaging a loan agreement .

It is not Melbourne, but the friendship between Maguire and Bellamy. Does anyone not think the deal is a result of the friendship? If this goes well, both clubs could benefit from future agreements.

Probably as Maguire is the NZ coach he has an insight into what Proctor can provide...or could be a case of every single Rugbeh League player on the planet gets linked to us in the media and by fans..

I honestly couldn't tell you if it's a result of friendship and I don't think I've read that anywhere (not saying it isn't true). Business is business and this deal was done to help us as we need a hooker that isn't injured every 5 minutes and Melbourne want to see what this kid has as they can't play him. Dont take Bellamy lightly, he's a competitor and isn't doing us a favour and sacrificing himself just to help out Madge. However, this sort of arrangement is so new, it's difficult to know how often it can happen in the future. I don't want to snake the storm, but if they're gonna block him for another year if Smith goes around again, then let Grants career take off with us and let him he the future.

I agree if he returns and doesn't get a gig because the two Smiths are still.there, he may well ask for that release. But that has to be his decision..

Obviously we would not be signing him if he is guilty Avo as he will be in goal.

If he is not guilty and we were lucky enough to sign him - why would you struggle?
