Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Has everyone forgotten about the last 4 years?? Foran has been on massive money and only played a handful of games. Given our recent history with Grub, Packer and Matulino, why on Earth would we possibly take the risk.

I would love to keep Grant, but we did sign the second best up and coming hooker from Queensland and I think Simpkin deserves a go. Let's keep sticking to great talent in the lower grades as they are cheaper and we can attract these players with First grade opportunities.

Isaako is a smart signing so don’t see it happening. Hopefully the club at least thinks about it.

he’s too short. We already have a short winger, we don’t need two imo

Isaako is a fullback

We don’t need one of those either.

ummm..what?
Douehi has played alright but he is a long way from proving himself as a consistent and dynamic fullback.
Anyway, Isaako's goal-kicking alone doesn't just get him into the team, it walks him in!
Take him in a heartbeat.

Disagree. Doueihi has been great for us.

I agree he’s been excellent safe, positional lg has improved massively. Also carries defenders every carry and chimes in attack. Has a way to go but big upgrade in Corey.

I think he’s been solid but let’s not overhype the guy. I mean just being objective when looking at all the team sheets and he would be ranked down the bottom. He just lacks a quickness and x-factor. But Yes he is safe and what he lacks in experience we can call potential, so I’m happy to see where this goes.

But re the chat, I still wouldn’t pass on Isaako (a moot point no doubt anyway)

Isaako is a gun winger I’d sign him tomorrow. Goal kicker and good field goal kicker. All round pro but he’s not a good fullback.

From the games I have seen this year the entire broncos spine has been terrible, including Isaako.

At times he has looked lazy and disinterested, reminding me of Lolohea. Maybe as a cheap goal kicking winger (which won’t happen) I would consider him, but not worth big money.

Couldn't agree more about Issako. Couldn't care if he kick goals or not based on what I've seen he is not what we need.

Maguire has pulled a masterstroke...meet our new signing facing the Judiciary..

Judiciary: Sam McIntyre (dangerous contact), Josh Aloiai (contrary conduct), **Grant Harrison (dangerous contact)**

https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/06/21/round-6-snapshot--dally-m-votes-taumalolo-joins-trbojevic-at-top/

I believe Harrison can also kick goals..

I fully appreciate the long overdue need for a high percentage goal kicker but Isaako is very limited outside that skill in my view. Sure there is a price where it would be smart deal but I think we need to aim higher than that

I'd look at Garrick from Manly and would offer him an increase to come across.

Foran is the best half on the market by a long long way for next year. Injuries are a worry but its why you get him for 400k not 1m. Also at least the injuries havent been re-occuring spot all different. We are loosing almost 1000 games experience if not more in Marshall, Lawrence, ET and mayby Reynolds- you cant have a team of rookies you need experience and we wont have much at all outside the centres

If we are signing a halfback, 5/8 Phoenix Crossland at the end of the year from the Knights would be the player we should throw big money at for 2022. We need to stop with the ageing veterans.

We have Walters.

Walters appears to me to be a capable utility but i'm not sure he's even as good as what we currently have. Ideally we'd be looking for an upgrade on Marshall and Reynolds and I don't see Walters as any better. He's a handy utility imo.

With 6 clubs chasing approx 3 players each at years end and only a very few quality players off contract it will be difficult to buy top class players. The only way forward is to sign quality development players and lock them up to contacts.Tigers must be trying harder in this regard as we do not have the recources of easts and broncos etc. With the coming of another qld team it is imperitive that we develop younger players.

Foran is done his body has already gone into retirement... I can not understand how anyone would even consider a player that has had his injury issues ... haven’t we already had enough of the Reynolds types sitting in the rehab bin ever week . Do we really ever want to compete in this competition!

You need to have solid reliable players Walters ticks these boxes ... everyone wants world beaters good luck with that ..

I'd like to aim higher than solid/reliable for a starting half.

Foran on 400k is too high. The path is quite simple in a way: sign promising development/young players on the cheap, pay low for over the hill types (eg. Foran), pay reasonable money for good O/S based players and throw top dollar at good local players.

It's what we did in 2004 and 2005.
