So if we've offered him say for example $400k a year, that's $400k tied up in that offer that we can't offer to anyone else (like CHN or TPJ - and yes I'm dreaming on TPJ).

Even if he agrees and signs with us tomorrow, we still have to wait for the court matters to finalise, and what if he's found guilty? Then we respend that money on someone else I guess but have still potentially missed other players who have since signed elsewhere.

I was worried about the same but surely they would have a plan? You can’t just leave the money aside praying he’s innocent

Just saw on Facebook that apparently Tigers and Warriors have offers in front of JDB for next year. Was posted by a disgruntled Dragons fan.

At the right price he would be a good signing - still has to get past the courts though. Would hope we aren’t sitting around waiting for that instead of trying to sign other players

Some players you just don't want to see in your colours and for me he is one of them. Unfortunately its a decision that I have no say in.

Realistically, we have a few players coming off contract, we could very probably afford both CHN and FDB. We would just be very very extremely lucky, as Dogs, Titans, Dragons and Warriors soon will be spending big to lure players in.

We can't even put an offer to him as he's still contracted to the Dragons.... He won't play this season so forget about him for now.

I think Elliot is a ball hog, Sue is nowhere near as good as Clark and that is while he is conscious, Meany I like but too small, might as well have kept Thommo.

CHN seems ok but I am yet to be convinced.

A lot of people saying Meaney is too small, he is taller and heavier than Papenhyzen, I don't get it

He's big enough to play fullback, but not wing. If we're signing him to replace Dylan Smith as a backup fullback then fine. If we're looking at him as a starting winger then hell no! He can't even keep his spot in the team getting the spoon!

No one is going to touch him and the NRL will not register his contract till he’s cleared. So that hypothetical is pointless.

Well let me add some context. An earlier post in this thread had said that we had tabled FDB an offer (as had another club). I was responding to that comment. I expressed my biggest concern to that (apart from the obvious with a man who has a criminal charge hanging over his head). In that context, it was not a hypothetical, and I don't think pointless.

Very few players can make it at that size. How many other fullbacks or wingers are Pap’s size and are top shelf players.
