Doesn't matter if it's true. I'm sure he has the option any time another club is willing to take him.

There is no way he's going to walk away from $800k to play somewhere else. I don't blame him.

He may want an extra few years on his contract. Don’t see any NRL clubs offering him a long deal, in England he would get that and decent money too. That will be the selling point

Josh could get 4 years in the UK, or 1 more year in the NRL.
Most probably on similar money, a no brainer.

Who in their right mind would go to the UK at the moment? Seriously there are more important things to consider than to play Rugby League. Give it another 18-24 months maybe, but not now.

Said it before and I’ll say it again Cade bloody Cust, boy can play, and i have it on good authority used to be a massive Tiges fan

The article about finding the next Tedesco at St Greg's reminded me of this young fellow.. He plays fullback and wing and has a lot of pace. This has been posted some time ago but it is always interesting to watch Tiger youth.

The only key indicator to care about is WIN..WWWWWWWWWWWW

And now a closet Dragons supporter ...... can you stick to one side for one week

Madden has two chances of playing 1st grade none And Buckley’s . He was ordinary playing can’t cup last year , so I don’t understand people pushing him as a, replacement for brooks .

Just like Papenhuyzen was too small, McIntyre a plodder who won't be re-signed and Madden now has the target on his back!

Big difference he is not at storm.

Some may call it fluff but I actually think it’s a great article. The tigers front office has previously been shambolic. At least there is a plan and the likelihood of further stability with Madge resigning. This can only be a good thing.

Wests Tigers are attempting to unearth the next James Tedesco by resurrecting St Gregory’s Campbelltown as rugby league’s greatest school.

As part of Michael Maguire’s roots-and-all rebuild of the club, the Tigers have made it their mission to revive the rugby league program famous for producing a long line of NRL stars.

The nursery that produced the likes of Tedesco, Chris Lawrence, Jack de Belin, Trent Barrett, Jason Taylor, Tim Sheens and even the late Jack Gibson.

“I am a big believer in nurturing and building our own,” Maguire said.

“And we have a plan at that includes St Gregory’s Campbelltown.”

Eleven years ago there were genuine fears for the future of the school as a rugby league nursery.

“I want to get that school back to where it was in terms of a rugby league nursery,” Maguire said.

“It has produced some of the great names in rugby league but has lost its way a little bit. I want it to be the school that every rugby league kid wants to go to again.’’

Maguire said he would not walk out on the Tigers to join the Cowboys and declared his mission to build a premiership-winning team had just begun.

Maguire is contracted to the club until the end of 2021 and will discuss extending his deal at the end of this season.

“I want to build long-term success,” Maguire said.

“Not just short term which coaches can sometimes do. I am not just here for short-term fixes.’’

NRL: Vision has emerged of Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire blowing up at his side during the halftime break despite leading the Warriors by six points.
Maguire’s long-term fix includes rebuilding rugby league at St Gregory’s.

“We are going to work with St Gregory’s to get them to get it back,” Maguire said.

“I want them to be aligned with the Wests Tigers. It’s in our area. We want them to be our school.’’

On the week that the club will celebrate the careers of club greats Benji Marshall and Chris Lawrence, Maguire said the club would produce another homegrown star.

“I am investing in kids,” Maguire said.

“They are the future. We are signing up a lot of the local talent which has probably been something we haven’t been good at. I am talking to 16-year-olds and 18-year-olds. They are the future of the club. I am going to bring the local juniors through.’’

In his second year of a three-year deal, Maguire’s has already put a new steel in the Tigers.

Starting with off-field changes which included extending the club’s high-performance program and increasing coaching staff, Maguire has also improved the club in 11 of 12 key on-field indicators.

While often credited for their defence, statistics also reveal the Tigers are scoring more points, making more run metres, making more tackle busts and making more linebreaks under Maguire.

“The players themselves have no excuses whatsoever not to perform at their best,” Maguire said.

“We have put everything in place for them to succeed. The club itself doesn’t have an excuse not to succeed anymore.”

Thanks for sharing

Wonder who these 16 year olds are we been signing

Love that from the club. Both Madge and Hartigan have now said they’re keen on bringing through local juniors. Really good to hear they’re looking to use the MacArthur region as we lose a lot of guys from there to other clubs.

Madge playing the long game will take patience but it’ll be worth it

Don't need to let Holy Cross slip away either, keep them all under our wing.

Having a constant stream of young kids from these schools is the way to go. Don’t know why the club moved away from doing it seems pretty obvious to me

Good to see that you mentioned Adam Hartigan, I think that he will be worth his weight in gold developing and spotting young talent.

And now he earns 6 figures. Carries a bit more weight than who you supported as a kid.

There is a real shortage of quality half backs in the NRL Half back appears our biggest problem area for 2021. Our pack is looking good and hopefully we can share a fast winger.

He is gonna be a big part of our future. At the roosters they signed a lot of young talent while he was there and it seems we are gonna be doing the same. He’s keen on using local juniors so hopefully he builds all those pathways up for us

A lot of the boys at St Greg's are/were boarders on scholarship with other NRL clubs.

Holy Cross always produces good plyers - Woods, Moses, Brooks, Ben Stevanovic, Curtis Wilson and Zac Camroux.

Brendan Tumeth is one to watch produced from Holy Cross and the Balmain juniors NSW U16s rep.
