Assuming Mbye at $800k is correct, if we pay half we have $400k available. Will we get a better player than Mbye for that $400k? Maybe, but you'd want to be sure and have something lined up ready to roll

Having an extra $400k could be the difference towards signing a goal kicker, good half or any other marquee signing

2 players who would easily make our side. So it’s not as if there isn’t any half decent players on the market

Can’t say I rate either of them to be honest. Whatever winger plays outside Aitken will score 2 tries all season. Evans maybe could’ve gone okay here but it doesn’t seem like we’re too focused on props at the moment unless they’re a big name

Personally think Aitkens is an awesome running centre unfortunately he’s been McGregor-fied. He’s a deceptively strong one on one defender aswell and think he’d flourish under some proper coaching

Paying half Mbyes contract is smart business. He has talent and it’s worth the risk for the Gold Coast and could be a good utility for 400k.
For us freeing up 400km and a roster spot is smart as this team is not making finals in its current state.

Bigger win would be offloading Reynolds at full freight to Super League.

Word is Broncos May struggle to sack TPJ we should do a deal and get him Broncos chip in 100k and pick him up for 550k per season.

Sending unwanted players to super league is good because normally you don’t have to pay part of their contracts


The days of big money in the UK are over. Salary cap is only AUD$3.3M. You can overspend on two marquees.

We would have to pay our guys to go there. They are entitled to their contract money and no one in the UK is going to pay it

One club over there would pay at least a good majority of his contract. He’s be man of steel in England ?

I don’t see super league move happening 6 players from one team tested positive for Covid.
The league will be in crisis and doubt a player in this climate would want to go there he will collect his last year of a monster contract here.

Aitken has some good qualities but he does not know how to pass. Good running game for sure but is a huge ball hog and defensively a little iffy.

In the right team he can go well, but if you want your wingers seeing a lot of good ball (which warriors do) then he’s not your man.

The other thing that’s not being mentioned is the possibility that we still have cap space this year.
That 2 year 800k-900k salary could have been able to have been front loaded a couple of hundred grand by now.
I doubt Asu would have costed us much this year as a mid season signing.
Going off the Sonny Bill Theory even if we valued his season contract at 200k we would be paying him about 75k for the remaining games.
I’m sure we would of had a lot more than that sitting in the kitty...

One replaced by a young gun who they figure they’ll fix him up with a big contract in the long run.
The other moved on since they felt he didn’t offer enough for the 800k contract they signed him to 2 years back.
