Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Just watching big league wrap on fox , there saying we look like signing Kevin Procter , only thing holding it up is we need to move someone on .

I think that this is a massive mistake if true. He's not the forward leader we need, he's in and out as far as form goes, he'll be 32 before next season kicks off and then there's the drug issue and now the biting charge, which well may carry a suspension into next year

Is our salary cap really that tight? Buzz said the same about signing JAC and it’s not like proctor would cost that much

I know we’re paying more for Doueihi and Joey, adding in Stefano, but if we don’t have any cap there must be a few other guys on back ended deals too.

Proctor would be on around 600k at the Titans.

Don't think we'd get him for less than 400k.

And it's not like we need to move someone on to sign him, but to sign him and have room for a few others we need to move someone on.

Seems sideways to me. 30+ year old, non impact player. Maybe a slight upgrade on Rowdy, but seems to have a bit of a Chris McQueen signing vibe, albeit Kevs isn’t broken like CMQ.

Bottom line for me is that Proctor is a meat and potatoes kind of player which isn’t necessarily bad but I’m keen for someone that can emulate a succulent Chinese meal

might have something to do with amount of people in the squad as opposed to dollars. listening to The POM's mail as well as Buzz this morning on BSB it sounds like cap space isn't the issue, more so squad size.

wouldn't surprise me if Bradley and Cini are encouraged to look elsewhere as well as the likes of M'Bye and Reynolds if Madge is going to have the ability to make mass changes to the squad over the offseason.

im not against with proctor. Dude plays most games every year is a pro and looks like a solid leader. Worry about his lack of metres though

Yeah apparently buzz was referring more to squad size that salary cap. They must have a few targets but we only have a few spots open.

I’m not gonna be upset if we sign proctor (unless it’s on big money) but I won’t be upset if we don’t get him.

He’s an upgrade on Rowdy and MCK, but isn’t an X factor player. Will defend and take some carries but doesn’t do anything special.

Despite his biting charge (which he hasn’t been found guilty) he’s only ever been charged once before that in his entire career. Still is a good leader

I'd take Eiso for half of what Proctor would want. He makes more tackles, runs and metres and really Proctor only has him beat on offloads, not much else

Do you think he's the only one in the NRL that's dabbled with drugs

No but he and his mate may be the only ones in the NRL that got "caught on camera snorting lines of cocaine off a drug dealer's phone outside a busy nightclub"

Here’s a piece from the telegraph today;

The Tigers have also expressed interest in Addo-Carr. When News Corp contacted the Tigers about the winger, a senior club official confirmed the interest but said they were yet to have any formal discussions with his new manager, Mario Tartak.

If Addo-Carr does return Concord, there is a view he could be played at fullback with Adam Doueihi shifting into the halves to partner Luke Brooks.

It’s believed the Tigers are looking for more pace and explosiveness from their fullback.

I’m unsure about how JAC could go at fullback. The upside is obviously his pace, not only for running plays but for backing up anyone else who might make a like break which is something we lack. Would all depend on how good he is defensively

Could be a risk paying him fullback money and then he doesn’t deliver

Wingers these days are becoming more important as centres in terms of attack..Some of the TRIES they score are phenomenal ..it takes a special skill..the fall over the line guys are becoming a thing of the past..

Josh Addo-Carr is not only a speedster he's a finisher ..we have to pay overs to attract a guy of his calibre..the value he would give us would be worth it..

How much is overs for JAC.

I don't think as a winger he is worth more than 650k.

Hope not. This is a Cleary when he was here type signing.

At the same time offering JAC fullback will really push him to join here. Offer him a decent amount, maybe $550k-$600k, play him at fullback and if he struggles he can always move back to the wing and Doueihi can move back to fullback.

We are after top quality players - don't think Proctor fits the bill myself and he will be 32.

Trouble is he is going to want a 2 but probably a 3 year deal.
Then when we have the dough and players are available for 2022 he is taking up a very valuable spot.

i wonder if the Speedster that the Pom mentioned is Regan Grace.... man getting him would be amazing

Who?

this guy

rivals JAC

Fox does it against NRL defences. Huge difference.

The bloke is a speedster. Super League is not the talentless wasteland it's made out to be on here. If we write off recruits from there we are doing ourselves a disservice, as rival clubs definitely look there.

I reckon he's better value than JAC, as he would cost significantly less but would still bring that x factor. And he probably wouldn't come with as big a risk of off-field stupidity as JAC.
