Assuming Utoikamanu is as good as advertised and Blore comes back into the picture, our pack is honestly ok. It's still a very young pack; Garner is actually the oldest and he isn't even 25 yet. I really like Hetherington and I think he'd be a good buy, but he wouldn't be essential. Apart from Garner I don't think there's too much upgrading which needs to be done.

Our backline if we get Addo-Carr and play him on the wing is fine too. No need to move Doueihi from FB.
To me it's just the halves that need to be fixed. We need two new ones.

Bevan French has been playing in the halves a bit for Wigan. Was never a big fan of French, but he looks pretty good as a 5/8.

Agreed, but his status and professionalism will rub off on the young players. The young guys will watch in the dressing sheds as he prepares himself. Being a hard trainer, there will be no short cuts. This is very important for our young players.

Finally, having genuine pace hopefully on both wings will revert our playing style to the open attacking style we are known for in RL.

Who are these attacking players to create space for those speedy wingers?

Luciano creates space. Talau might slot into the left centre spot. AD is starting to look very good.

Talau imo is faster than Jacob Olam. He can be just as effective for us.

However Justin at Melbourne would be twice as fast. His not far off JAC speed I reckon.

You are misrepresenting the position of supporters who oppose the suggestion that we should give up Talau to get JAC.

You are suggesting that we believe that Talau is a better footballer than JAC, or that he will certainly become a better footballer. I haven't seen anybody suggest that.

The issue is how much should we as a club be expected to give up to get the deal over the line.

I'm happy to pay marquee money to get JAC, but that's it. We shouldn't have to give up a promising junior as well.

We've made enough mistakes with our signings in the past I think we should forget this bloke...all his good years are behind him, and we certainly don't want to give up any of our promising youngsters...stop the rot now😕

You don’t start declining as an athlete until you’re at least 30. To be honest NRL for some reason thinks 30 is older for a player when it’s actually your physical prime really, you see UFC and boxing champs are normally around that age or even older.

Olam is a strong runner and good player. I'd be very surprised if he is near JAC speed. I've watched him in the clear get run down by Cleary.

No I made that bit up about ‘Jacob’ by the way Edene Gebbie is in Souths 30man squad.
Maybe they’d swap him with JAC.

As far as Justin goes. He might not have the top speed of JAC but he certainly would have the same acceleration as him. I watch a lot of games of league, (it helps offset the disappointment of watching just the tigers) and I’ve watched him closely also. The two are like twins on that left flank for Melbourne, Olam is quick. But in the case of the argument, quicker than Talau who I think is average speed for a back but would be quick for a forward.

Let's face it - Brooks is never going to get us anywhere no matter who is next to him... we've sat on a fizzer for 6 years.
Benji and Grub are both past their best and offer very little. (Benji the rare glimpse of magic and Grub his overbaked enthusiasm).
Who knows how our current team would go if we had one competent half running the show, let alone two.
Here's hoping the rumours of Grub going to SL happens and Benji retires.
Only one left to get rid of then... and he has to go.

I don't know if people are just being a little combatative but there are other issues of urgency including securing another front and back rower, but IMO Benji's replacement takes priority.
I'd even suggest employing an attacking coach to help the team with their cohesion and adaptability.
The team's excelling at the back end of the year have monstrous yet mobile packs and lots of strike in their squads. Therefore, I think we need to fill in some gaps firstly.
It's incomprehensible to even suggest a complete gutting - as we don't exactly have Nick Politis' cheque book or the Roosters accountant at our disposal. Everyone knows we're struggling to move on the overpaid players.

Expanding off the field staff for next year may prove a problem given that NRL are pushing for significant cuts in funding in that area of clubs spending.
