Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Extremely poor comments from Phil Murphy, one of the owners of the Broncos about Seibold. I cannot believe a person of that authority could make such a comment on national television.

“Wests Tigers have bombed out of the finals - and I'm hearing several senior players are fuming at the club's plans for 2021.

Coach Michael Maguire is looking at a cleanout, and wants to move several long-serving players on after six losses in their last eight games.
Kiwi international Russell Packer is on his hit-list, as is former Souths back-rower Chris McQueen, while Josh Reynolds' future is up in the air. There are also still question marks over what to do with veteran favourite son Benj Marshall, who is off contract but has a deal on the table.

The Tigers were well-placed for a finals run two months ago but have fallen to pieces, with morale at rock bottom.
Losing by a big margin to a depleted Roosters side on the weekend was the final straw and the Tigers are looking at mass changes.
The players have been their own worst enemies, forcing Maguire's hand.

The no-nonsense coach has seen he can't make the finals with this squad, let alone win a comp, and knows he needs to bring in some fresh blood to liven up the Tigers' ranks.”

I hope the comment of Benji having an offer on the table is not true.

Boo hoo senior players are upset because they’re crap and Madge doesn’t want them. Maybe if they played better it wouldn’t be an issue - happy to get rid of all those players mentioned and Benji too. Pretty clear our squad needs mass changes, I’d even rather lose with a team full of young guys with potential than a team of guys about to retire

Don’t buy into Tony Adams garbage. You’re smarter than that.

He posts a link to his article every week in a SuperCoach group that i am in on Facebook. So I just put it to him about McQueen and called him out for his sensationalist garbage. Great way to start the day.

To be fair he didn’t say McQueen was fuming but is one of the players being let go which is pretty damn obvious

The cancer comment? Yeah totally poor form.

Hope Seibold stays on and wounds them big time now.

This could result in the Broncos being in court. I just cannot fathom how anyone could use that description on national television.

It was implied by the fact he was mentioned. I don’t believe for a second McQueen would be. In the 3 years he’s been here, I haven’t heard peep from him. I’m sure tons of players in his position would have kicked up a stink long ago. He hasn’t been a problem, and there’s no doubt he knows his career is over. I also don’t doubt Tony Adams would throw McQueens name into the article to add even more spice.

The new rules certainly favour the stronger teams and it’s been pretty obvious in the score lines and ladder

We had 6 set restarts to Roosters one, but they were all on the first or 2nd tackle. I thought the refs were supposed to be watching for this.

As I’ve mentioned before.
Since we have poor meter eatage In getting out our own half.
This tactic used by teams crucifies us.
A penalty in our own end and we are in a position to attack.
We still don’t do the hard stuff well enough.
We come alive in another teams half but. That was all to see on the weekend.

In the case of the new rules, we ‘the tigers players ability’ were better off with old ones.

You're right, it's pub talk, not sure in what reality he thought it was an appropriate phrase to use in a professional setting.

Never a dull day in Tiger Town. This is why I luv supporting the club. Lots of drama and talking points.
This coming off season is gonna be mega. Can’t wait

Hope it's like last Tuesday and there is a Press Conference to announce another retirement .... Its time to go Benji.... and also like last week he is not picked just like Lawrence..
Happy to give them 1 game in last round to send off the right way.

Moley has posted to 4 Wests Tigers groups on facebook sitting back with his box of popcorn

I’ve just spent the last hour catching up on this thread. Haha - the speculating has started early this year!
Every year we are linked to every player on (or not on) the market. Then we start assembling forward packs and back lines the likes of which are only ever contemplated down Bondi way. Then we wait for the signings...and wait ... and wait....
Then we sign Pita Godinet ?

I’m still getting over the Godinet signing

We beat Melbourne and roosters with Godinet as our starting 9, lolohea at fullback and Rochow at second row. In fact we were 5-1. How Ivan managed that I’ll never know

We infringed and held down every play the ball at the time I called us the West’s Stiflers. Rules have changed talent is showing through average teams are no longer able to hang in there. Score lines and also the teams with the best rosters are all at the top. Cleary could coach he just had no morals.

Why weren’t the rules around in 2010/11. We would have been unstoppable!

? We had some very good teams and should have won the competition when we were knocked out by the Dragons. Choked against the Warriors also.

Take the contract off the table...???

If this is true Madge is definitely not the coach to get us out of this hole.
Benji has absolutely nothing to gain from not announcing his retirement, he could get a proper send off, he wants to play again no risk.

JAC won’t solve our on field problems instantly but he’s a quality player and it would be our first big name signing in forever (can’t remember the last time we signed a current origin player) and it shows other big name players that we are a club you can come to.

He’s also a very hard worker and a great fella players love to play with. We still need to upgrade our halves but it would be great to see us actually picking up a top quality player

Souffs will wangle paying him 350k and finding a spot so he can go
and play with his mate Latrine. I think this will be LM all over again.

I'm certainly not getting my hopes up that we'll get him, things have a way of falling apart whenever a big name is linked to us. I'd be extremely surprised if Souths went for him though, there is no way they have the money and they already have too much invested in their backline.

Something interesting I heard today...JAC's new manager is allegedly organising his own third party deals, thereby possibly reducing any potential club's salary cap outlay. Novel way of making your player affordable for more clubs.
Also a novel way of getting him into a club seemingly close to their cap limit.

To fit into Souths Salary Cap I would assume?

But Justin Pascoe said we’re a destination club?

I needed a laugh...

He has been having to many long lunches with the Chairman !?

Benji needs to be respectfully tapped on the shoulder and offered a position in the club either in assistant coaching or PR. He is a club legend and deserves to be treated as such. However, his playing days, at NRL level are over. He needs to realise that.
