Why is every one saying we have no cap space . We get back $ 360,000 from the nrl . Then we have Benji , McQueen , rowdy , Taylor and a couple of lower grade players of contract . I think that we would have about $1,600,000 in cap space , if any one knows any difference please correct me .

Reports from SMH were we had around a million. With Stefano joining, having to pay more for Doueihi and Joey and some other guys probably getting small increases 1 million makes sense.

Money will probably be used for a winger and fullback it seems. No good props worth spending big money on, hopefully we get someone like Bunty Afoa or Isaiah Papali’i who are solid and
Cheap.

This is the mentality the Tigers have to change or they may as well give up. Woods had to slave for years as a Lone Ranger. Until we have a big aggressive forward pack, I.e. more than just Aloiai up front, all our backs (especially Brooks) will continue to look average. The circus will roll on. If the Rorters were in this predicament that get a guy out of a bad contract at another club.

We desperately need a real elite Lock... fixes our pack up in a single move, well that and getting McIntyre and Blores gas tanks up to scratch so we can give Garner the rissole... We have forwards, we need a lock.

I know we missed Aloiai and Musgrove last week but we had zero go forward. No wonder poor Brooks is down on form. Imo Aloiai is getting there but we need a real forward leader. You think we’re gonna match JWH/taukiaho or Tamou/Fisher Harris/ Kikau or RCG/Paulo/Matterson. We’re miles back.

How many more excuses are people going to make for Brooks’s poor form. It’s Brooks fault and nothing and no one else’s. Only Brooks can fix it. His best option is to go elsewhere.

I’ll continue until I see him behind two big metre eaters. Never seen it yet.

His three bombs he put up whilst we had a player in the sin bin against Penrith shows how brain dead as a footballer he is. Those kicks had nothing todo with what forward pack he was behind. Brooks is not an asset but a massive liability.

I think we kept them scoreless with 12 men? Trapped them on their own line for most of the period? Good tactics IMO

joe ofahengue has been told by broncos he can leave. he is contracted for another three more years and even tho he is on $500,000 a year broncos would have to pay a little bit of that. for me that is a steal. Flegler is also of contract and would also be another decent signing. Also read that we are looking at signing james tamou. In my opinion he is a log and far past his best but at a good price a experienced forward would be exactly what we need. Thoughts?

Tamou, two years with Utoi would be good.

You’re entitled to your opinion of course. I have supported Brooks for years but his time with the Wests Tigers is over, he has zero to offer any more IMO.

And you are entitled to that too, I just want to see us have an elite forward pack before I write him off, if he fails then, I’m with you.

Brooks maybe my 100th bomb something will happen?

He also has the rare skill to kick to a defender on the line. It’s almost like kicking into the goal posts but not as trendy

If Twal can get a little better with his passing he’s your man, does everything else an elite lock does.

Twal is a prop, a very good one, but he is a prop.

Jake T, Brown, Taumalol, Fischer-Harris, Murray, Asofa-Solomona.... if you cannot see what those guys bring that Twal doesnt, I dont know what to say....

I would put Twal against any prop in the world, no joke, no black orange and white glasses... guy is class. But a lock he isnt... We lose in the props, and do ourselves a disservice at lock thinking he is the answer...

Jake T is considered one of the best and Twal matches all his stats, like I said before he lacks the passing game. I don’t see why he’s not a lock he offers almost everything you want in that position.

Lacks passing...and leadership....and talking, directing, running the plays...

Twal is very one dimensional and passive IMO.

I’ve acknowledged his passing and that’s easily fixed during pre season. Madge many times has mentioned him as one of our leaders at the club, and locks don’t really direct and run plays? They’re very involved which Twal is

I have never seen Twal fire up...never once seen him bark orders or talk on the field...

He probably is a 'leader' in fitness drills, but so was Cory Thompson.

Holland to call it quits at season's end

AuthorAlicia NewtonNRL.com ReporterTimestampWed 2 Sep 2020, 01:53 PM

Bulldogs centre Kerrod Holland has announced he'll retire from the NRL at season's end and return to hometown Newcastle and look for employment.

Holland, 27, has played 69 games for the Bulldogs

One less problem for WTS when we play doggies he always had the knack of playing well against us.

Sad day for me he was one of students out at singo high

Some players lead with their actions. He does the tough stuff, doesn’t miss a tackle. I don’t think he should be captain but he’s definitely someone our players should look up to. Yelling on the field doesn’t mean anything if you can’t back it up.

I agree , blokes like Steve Price and Petro just did their jobs. Packer was hooting and a hollering at matterson but largely did nothing else.

He gets fired up and then makes 3 runs a game. Not a leader at all

You’re entitled to your opinion of course. I have supported Brooks for years but his time with the Wests Tigers is over, he has zero to offer any more IMO.

And you are entitled to that too, I just want to see us have an elite forward pack before I write him off, if he fails then, I’m with you.

At another club please.

man, we need some hope right now.
A signing, a moving on, just a win of any sort really.

Parramatta sign Packer for $2million over 2 years and Josh Reynolds flees the country for love? 🙏

He did a couple times in the 1st half on saturday. I hadn't seen that side of him before but it got me excited:blush:

He's improving in that department

We are all so sick of another rebuild year.
But next year is going to be much of the same.
We can only hope to see improvement in some of our young players.
If we can steal a Penrith or Broncos young gun even better.we need to persist with madge.end of next year will be much more exciting

Maybe young Stefano will be the messiah? Don't write off 2021 yet, keep the faith!

Poor bugger is going to be crucified on the forum if he doesn’t play like Jason Taumalolo In his first full season of first grade.

Some people will have written him off after one game

Its more how he runs.... 10m out from the tryline, Jake T, Taumololo, Murray etc are dynamic attacking options. Twal runs like a prop and gets held up as if its an early tackle count settling run... thats the difference.

Again not every lock is a dynamic try scorer it all depends on the makeup of your pack. To be honest the three you named have not scored that much this season. In the modern game there’s not much difference between a lock and a prop in most teams.

What Twal definitely needs to work on is passing and offloading. Lots of times it looks like he can offload but doesn’t, we need him to throw the pass more. If we can sign a better lock then move Twal into prop but he’s our best option at the moment and a good choice there

Wasnt Twal the top offloader in one of the kiddy grades? Told to stop when he came to us.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember in Twal's first game in First Grade, on his first touch, he received the ball 5 metres out from the try line, making everyone think we was going to try and barge his way over, and he passed to another player who I'm pretty sure scored.

So he certainly can pass/offload.
