Remember that Ben Kennedy was 31 when he signed a 2 year deal to play for Manly in 2005 & 2006. They had a lot of young forwards coming through who needed to be shown the way. Guys like Glenn Stewart and Anthony Watmough had barely played any NRL. They didn't do anything as a team in those two years, but it set them for the next 5 or so years when they were extremely successful. All three of those players ended up playing for Australia.

We have a similar group of forwards who could all end up being just as good under the tutelage of Tamou.

What about all the other 30+ year old forwards in the last 15 years going to another club?I hope you are right but Kennedy was an exceptional player

JWH and Bromwich are both 31. Even Adam Blair is playing better than he ever played at tigers at 34.

Tukimihia Simpkins is a strange one. I really can't see the Cowboys letting him go. They chased the kid for a few years and had him in their elite pathways group then promoted him to the top 30 at the end of last year. You would think they will do everything in the power to keep him.

The idea is Tamou isn't going to be a player to get us a premiership but a player who's value is more in the process of winning a premiership.

Our forwards are all very young, he will provide leadership for 2 years, after those 2 years the likes of Twal and Aloiai will be heading into their peak seasons. The young forwards of Blore and Utoikamanu will have also progressed (hopefully) to where Aloiai and Twal are currently at now. Once Tamou retires we then use his money to sign the next up and coming young forward. What this means is we now have a blend of seasoned forwards + experienced youth + young upcommers

So yes he is no superstar signing and won't be a revelation but its all part of a process to get the right balance in a successful team.

Twal needs to smash someone. Makes 40 tackles a game and no one remebers any of them. Only needs to do it a couple of times. Never saw Fonzie hit anyone but he had the rep.

The best shots are when a player gets hit in the waist/ribs and gets folded. Bring back the shoulder! PCM has stuffed it though, coz now all you ever see is players trying to wrap the ball up. I blame Bellamy, look at his prototype forwards, tall and rangy. Another thing those gronks have introduced to stuff the game up.
The Huth fits that mould, wouldn't be surprised if he ends up there if we let him go.

Of course he's expecting to go back to melb that is where he is contracted to play. Has nothing to do qith Tigers doing anything crazy to keep him everyone is still waiting on Smith's decision before anything could be done
