Silent snub for gutted Shark

Do we really need to go through this again? The general consensus on this forum is that Gibbs was hard done by and it was handled poorly by the club. Unfortunately Rugby League is a professional sport now and as in any business, there will come a time where tough decisions need to be made.

- Do I wish Gibbs was still here? Of course.
- Do I think the situation was handled poorly by the club. Of course.
- Do I believe WT came to the decision lightly to cut one of the clubs favourite sons? Of course not.

Loyalty is no longer a valuable commodity in the game.

But Loyalty is, or should be, a two way street.

Balmain Bug, You say that Beau and Heighno were going to be "sacked" from WT. Was there an off field incident nobody knows about? While I do know they were very close to going to Penrith, very very close, they decided to stay on despite the Panthers deal being better.

And Bryce didnt have to leave. He just signed a 3 year deal. He could have chosen to stay just like Daniel Mortimer at the Eels. I am very good friends with one of Bryces cousin and yeah deep down he would have preferred to stay but he is happy with his contract at the Sharks. VERY HAPPY!

So there you go ,well put benji#6.some people like to take the papers as gospel.but a few people know the truth behind the story.
Iwill bet my house and boat that Gibbsy will get booed big time by the leichhardt faithful

The boys have been tweeting each other for months, no contact for the week leading up to the game on Sunday is a good idea because it's time to focus on footy!

I would like to think Gibbs is shown a bit of respect given the years he's given to our club.

I agree Bug, but unfortunately like all businesses, it's results orientated, and the club has to try to plan long and short term.

Like I said, don't get me wrong… I would still like to see Gibbs run out in a Tigers jersey on saturday, and it will be weird to see him in sky blue... But that's the nature of the beast that is professional sport.

Gibbs will last a few games then get hurt , trying to show us we made a mistake , no mistakes gibbs is injury plauged and fifita has a chip on his shoulder that will leave him behind as nobody like a smart –se

Why? I would like to think Wests fans are a lot better then booing someone who gave the club almost 10 yrs service. If they want to boo an ex-player boo someone like Ben Te'o. Gibbs deserves a lot better then getting shafted by the club, then booed by the fans when he comes back to play in front of our home crowd. Doesn't exactly seem too fair

I dont boo any players as I feel it is childish… But I'll be cheering when Ellis cuts him in half and puts him on his bum!

Gibbs is the enemy come 2pm Sunday, much like Benji is the enemy when he puts on that aweful Kiwi Jumper!!!

Smash Em All!!!

I have no doubt Gibbs will be cheered on to the field. And rightly so. Gave his heart and soul. As did Mark Oniell. But guess what he was moved on as well. Andrew Fifita will be the one who will be booed!

plenty of softies in here .Scotty Prince captained our side to a premiership , and he is the first player booed .
I wont be booing , but like i posted , the crowd will give it to both of them big time .
rep points for you cb .

Maybe because we picked Prince up off the scrap heap after 2 broken legs and turned him into a premiership winning Captain and a Clive Churchill medal winner, then 6 months later signs elsewhere. As far as Gibbs goes, when is this booing suppose to take place anyway? when his name is read out before the game? because i would think he will get a respectful cheer. I'm sure all Tigers fans are familliar with how he left and know he didn't leave on bad terms (not from his end anyway). So booing him makes no sense at all, not sure what has you so convinced

Gibbs WAS a Wests Tigers legend…..but he is the ENEMY now!!! Good luck Gibbsey, but Wests Tigers are going places....Sharkies are going nowhere (except maybe Central Coast!!!)

But GNR, he left for less money*!

*and a free house.

I won't be booing, was in my opinion the best prop in our team.

On a side note, it is ridiculous that everyone keeps saying he is injury prone so had to be let go, yet in the past 2 years he played exactly the same amount of games as Galloway (43) yet we didn't cut him. Infact I think you will find across the years Galloway has missed more matches due to injury than gibbsy. I also think Gibbs was more prone to taking the hard yards off our line when we were getting smashed about (as did heighno and Ellis), hence his yards never looked as good as he was always doing the hard yards.

Either way, loved the guy, he bled tigers, will always cheer for him and wish him the best.
