Watching some old footage of this lad…
Is there any current NRL player with a comparable build to this guy?

His frame was close to the most perfect for the second row.

It's unfortunate what happened to this guy because he would have been the greatest second rower to ever play for us... As well an NSW and Aus rep.

Nostalgic thread / discuss.

He was Bradley Clyde Mk 2, imo. Terrible shame we never got to see his obvious potential unfold. Even worse for him not to get the chance to live it.

He could've been the best second rower of recent times.

His build is the modern day prototype for that position.

Absolute tragedy what happened…. Not just us as tigers supporters but all NRL fans missed out on seeing what could have been... Something rly special.

Dwyer was on his way to being a superstar.

Funny you mention Clyde. He works in finance now, my office is a few doors down from him. Funny to walk past him on a daily basis.

Dwyer was an absolute champion. It's so sad to seee him still struggle with the arm. I hope some advancements in modern medicine can rectify that in the next few years.

SBW comes to mind

As mentioned Brad Clyde and perhaps Bobby Lindner

I was guilty of doubting him when he first came into grade, doubted his commitment at times but once he became a staple he was a very good second rower. His hit on JWH was as good as they come.

Just re-watched it….....................that hit on JWH was massive, but completely spoiled for me given what the refs did with that "scrum" after

Was such a great young player and was still developing his game. Is great he is still involved with the club but feel for him that he has a disability because of the game he loves.

As mentioned, he was the perfect build for a back rower.

I don’t remember him being quite as good as being mentioned here. Was big, fast and could break the line but I remember him having issues with his hands and defense.

That’s not to say he couldn’t have fixed those and been an origin back rower, but we’ll never know.

cordner is quite similar- just a little less muscly

dwyer had great acceleration, great change of angles to run the right line, was playing 80 minutes at one point at a young age and from what i remember was one of the first in cover tackles (i think once agains the storm). His hands used to let him down and was prone to give a couple of penalties a game but he hit hard and they stuck

i won't ever forget tuiaki and dwyer

This thread makes me sad, he had a bright future. What made it worse is we had Madam Blair as his replacement

He's my friends next door neighbour who lives a street behind me. I see him here and there but cant really ask him too much for certain reasons although has told me a couple of things before which have happened as he said, but haven't talked to him in a while. Really down to earth guy but also a really positive guy considering what has happened to him. Huge loss, probably the worst loss.

Hope he is still involved as part of Madges coaching team. Was/is he doing the video analysis?
